Need help with ACC settings
I am looking to get some better settings for ACC but i am useless at this aspect of setting games up,
i have been on PC for a bit but need a little help setting up because i feel there is more to gain.
I am looking for good balance between quality and performance, i will give my PC specs and the image of my ACC settings now.

Motherboard - TUF GAMING B560M-PLUS WIFI
CPU - Intel Core i7 11700KF 11th Gen Rocket Lake 8 Core 3.6GHz
Graphics - ASUS Dual GeForce RTX™ 3060 V2 OC Edition 12GB
Memory - Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) 3200 MHz DDR4

CPU is overclocked in bios using ASUS optimized CPU performance boosted to 5 GHz

These are my settings now.

Try the GeForce Experience settings I find these a very good starting point as it takes into account all of YOUR hardware and optimises the settings for you.
You can then "tweak" as desired.

personally i would never use the nvidia experience settings and turn that off automatic... lol

i noticed when i had my 1070ti the nvidia experience thing would do so many strange settings that made no sense like putting it at 4k resolution but 80% resolution scale instead of just running 1440p like i wanted and it was also changing the settings i set manually back to w/e weird settings it thought was best but really was not...

so the key is getting some settings lowered so you can bring up the DLSS qaulity a bit i would also consider using FSR on ACC as it seems to have less flaws it works with nvidia GPU as well

turn visible cars down to 15-20 this setting can really kill performance

mirror view distance this also kills performance turn it as low as you can 60-80-100 meter should be enough its up to you how much you want to sacrifice. really everything with the mirror you want to sacrifice as much as you can stand.

bloom this does not add much in my opinion but can really bog the FPS during sunset and sunrise i keep this on low-mid as low as you can go on this one too..

volumetric fog i turn this one off myself also does not add a whole lot that is good in my opinion i would also put this as low as possible.

post processing can hinder performance i would put it down to mid to see if it looks ok if its ok keep it try high if you dont like mid go back to epic if you cant stand high lol

the dirt setting you have it at 3 i would put it to 1 this is the dirt that accumulates on the windshield it will give you 3-4 fps lol it all adds up though

also you might have to change the shadow setting to only high

you could try using KTAA instead of temporal anti aliasing for me temporal is smoother but more ghosting ktaa a little more jagged but less ghosting its up to you really..

so hopefully bringing those down would allow you to raise DLSS to quality also i would try FSR on the quality setting. I have heard that DLSS can put more load on the CPU than FSR so there could be a difference. also have heard FSR just works better on ACC specifically

anyways im not really sure what type of FPS your trying to achieve i feel like those are still sort of high settings for your graphics card you might have to bring everything down to high on top of the other settings i have mentioned and not run epic on very much if anything.

really big thing is make sure your graphics card is running cool you might have to turn the fan speed up on it most of the time stock fan curve is not good enough to get full performance.

HOW TO OPTIMISE YOUR GRAPHICS IN ASSETTO CORSA COMPETIZIONE

also just to add i would make sure xmp is enabled in your bios so your ram is actually running at 3200 mhz im assuming it is but it can make a big difference so its worth mentioning.

also the 11th gen CPUs were known to run really hot depending on the cooler your using using the built in asus overclock for the cpu could just make the cpu run hotter and not better typically these are not very optimized overclocks and use a lot of power causing a lot of extra heat.
just to be clear you still do want to use the built in xmp overclock for your ram at 3200mhz using the built in cpu overclock is questionable though.

i would just check your temps while gaming using something like hardware monitor by CPUID to make sure its running in the proper temps its possible that even though you overclocked it could still be getting hot enough to throttle and basically downclock its self to keep cool.

i cant help but wonder how old that coachdave guide is as there is not any of the features added in years ago listed like DLSS and FSR -gen5 TAA

its not to far off but clearly was not done after the complete unreal engine update a 1.5 or 2 years ago even though it looks to be dated feb 2023 its very odd not sure exactly how none of the new stuff is covered i do feel like its probably been up for years....and they updated the date or something but not the guide.

there really was an extreme change (complete game engine upgrade) that came along with adding in DLSS and FSR and gen5 anti aliasing after this update most people said the game performed even worse when not using DLSS or FSR but much better with FSR and DLSS enabled as far as FPS goes.

Thanks for the messages on this for me. I guess i failed to say all whats in my pc so i will try to explain them but 1st i should have said i am not having problems with my PC, i just thought i maybe leaving some performance/fps behind.

In the bios i am using Asus overclock settings and XMP is enabled, i have a 240mm AIO which keeps the CPU cool when playing games 60-65 degrees c is where it sits when i am racing on ACC and i use a program called Fan Control (https://github.com/Rem0o/FanControl.Releases) it controls pc fans/gpu fans and aio's etc, you can see a vid here by JayztwoCents on how to set it up (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDPKVKBMQU8) this keeps my system cool and the GPU runs around 60 degrees c give or take a degree or so and the GPU runs at 97% with ACC.

This is a video that i recorded yesterday, be warned it's very loud so adjust your sound to low before you start it. You can see the Afterburner stats in the bottom right of screen.

Thanks again for the replys and i will go through them to see what happens.

PS: I have Geforce experience for recording but i don't allow it to change any settings for games i do this, or should i say try to do this in game....

2. It can get a good baseline if all has been messed up by changing things.
3. It understands the hardware you have and adjusts accordingly.

I always use it to get a default setting, especially if the game does not have it's own benchmark system to change the settings,

I then tweak as needed for my preferences.

i think the point of this forum is to get different ideas from people so its totally ok that we had different suggestions/ideas or ways we do things and that is really the point of asking a question here to get a few different takes and see what is working for other people.

i just gave my experience with geforce experience and that i personally do not like it myself but i also like pretty much going through every setting on my own so its no surprise that would not be a good fit for me.

the reason i thought it was important to share is because it kept changing the settings on its own that i would change manually it would switch them back so i think its important to tell people this it also did some really strange settings for me this is a year or 2 ago so maybe its better now i have no idea.

also to it clear up i did not give any jester award i have never given out an award on steam at all and really did not have any problem with the suggestion of geforce experience to me it makes it a little harder to fine tune your settings or understand what settings are doing and what you can turn up or down to match the experience your trying to get.

i think its one of those things some people are really going to like geforce experience and some people are just going to want to do it themselves to make sure its how they want it lol.

so i actually think your game looks pretty good considering your hardware i do think having DLSS on performance is taking away some sharpness im on a 65 inch 4k tv though so ... 1440p is not going to be as sharp and with DLSS on performance who knows what resolution that actually is lol either way i think it looks like a pretty good gaming experience.

i would just try out FSR on quality as well and also DLSS on quality see how much FPS you lose and how much the picture changes and see if its worth it to tinker around more or not if you lose say 20 fps but the picture is much sharper/more how you want it than i would lower the settings i suggested in the first post maybe 1-2 at a time to see its sort of up to you what is most important

anyways i would say its mostly the DLSS setting that is really bringing the qaulity down a bit but in order to turn it up you will lose out on some other stuff so its sort of up to you to decide what looks better to your eyes.
i would try to at least get the DLSS up one notch but it might just be sort of nit picking at that point as well lol.
personally i try not to go below the quality setting for DLSS and FSR also keep in mind most of the reports i have seen have said DLSS using much more CPU power than FSR and ACC is very CPU heavy already so i would personally try out FSR although i would say only on the qaulity setting lol.

but yea i do think your current settings are not so bad and are actually quite nicely balanced and it seems like your PC is working really nicely with these settings.
goblueteam Jul 1, 2023 @ 1:59pm
another thing is i do think you could be maxing out some cores on your CPU its quite odd that your graphics card is never at 99% usage.
this could even be from DLSS putting extra load on your CPU i would try FSR and compare

the other potential case is DLSS is lowering the resolution so much that its just not using your graphics card to the max so i would try the middle setting of DLSS and FSR i think balanced i just feel like your gpu should be at like 99% usage most of time.

a program like hardware monitor by cpuid would show you if any of your CPU cores are maxing out you just open it game for a little while and it logs the minimum and max and current statistics for basically everything in your pc voltages cpu core temps/usage gpu stuff ram and yea everything.

many games are still not good at using multi core cpu and can sometimes just be maxing out a few cores and not really using the others much i have a feeling a few of your cores are maybe getting to 100% usage in some situations anyways i could be way off as well and it could just be that DLSS is putting the resolution so low on performance setting that it does not need to use your gpu to the max

anyways just some ideas Lol

Hmmm, never had it changer the settings itself before, that would be a bugger.
The only time it changes the settings for me is when I tell it to optimise the game.

You are correct everyone's, and experience is of help to not just the OP but subsequent readers on these posts.

Sadly to say, but you dont need such expensive stuff to have fun in ACC.

MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS (MS-7C56)
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
MSI RX 5500 XT MECH OC
32GB DDR4 RAM on 3600
Nvme SSD Samsung + SSD Sata + HDD´s
2x 1080P Monitors x3normal

and i can also Stream any Game, clearly some Softwareworks...

i think everyone has different ideas of what type of experience they want.

i had the game working pretty well on a ryzen 5 1600 and rx580 4gb graphics card and 16gb of 3200 mhz ram.

but just because it worked good enough and actually looked ok considering a old 4gb graphics card and even a oem dell blower model that was probably worse than a normal rx580 it worked ok

but if i switch back to that now i would feel like i went back to a Nintendo 64 or something lol (i do still have this graphics card/ram in my spare pc with a i7-8700k)

i think once you play at higher resolutions things really stand out much more at 1080p as far as being grainy and much worse looking.

i play at 4k 120fps now with a i5 13600k and rx6800 32gb 4000mhz ram and this is still considered a mid range pc these days and im sure someone with really top of the line stuff would come use my PC and think it looks like crap so its all sort of relative to what your used to.
