No remapping of throttle / brake controls with gamepad?
So you cannot even remap the very two basic controls to whatever you like? You have to use RT for throttle and LT for brakes? Wow...

yes

why would you want to use anything else?, you will have little control over the brake and throttle using a button.

I never said I would use a button, (but that's what you do with the keyboard and somehow it works). For example you can swap the steering and put it on the right stick (which means somebody asked for that feature since it's in the game), then you might as well put the throttle on the LT to steer with one hand and use the throttle with the other. Any game I've played allows you to remap the controls, only this one is this wonky / picky.

Because it wants some input with a "workable range" to deliver some precision and smoothness while granting you can use both brake and throttle at the same time or with little to no delay between both (because it is a thing and necessary in many situations) also even if you manage to, through Steam Bigpicture, force the game to read your gamepad as a keyboard, the control over your car will be little to none because a simulator dont accept too good on/off inputs.

Maybe, with the same Steam Bigpicture process, you can manage to get the throttle and brake to one of the analog sticks, but still your "turn through" will suffer anyway if you do have brake and throttle at the same stick, tho I did not understand how you want to configure your gamepad by this last message of yours:

I really could not understand how throttle at LT would be good or help also how having throttle at RT would not allow you to use the other hand (left hand) to steer or why throttle at LT and brake at RT, inverted "pedals", would help but if you are used to it inverted or if you wanted brake to be somewhere else . . .

No need to understand it, but it would be a, quite useful, option to have to somebody. An option that every game I know of has, except this one.

Speaking of control input precision: this game really lacks such a thing for the throttle anyway, that's why I was trying to mapping to a different button / key / stick, I wanted to check if I could make it better.

Get yourself a controller that comes with it's own software that allows you to remap the triggers. I have about 14 controllers, about half of which have their own mapping software.

That might be something I'll have to do. However I might be able to do so with a custom Steam Input profile, I'm looking into that.

Curious to know what are the "other games" you are comparing ACC to ... btw, I totally dont recommend using buttons instead of triggers as throttle and brake and for the reason you need to use some brake with some throttle sometimes I also dont recommend using same analog stick for trottle and brake.

BTW Steam Input config did the trick. I didn't need to change the throttle in the end, but with xinput the game doesn't work well at all. With Steam Input I could also adjust the throttle curve just a tad and this resulted in a much, *much*, improved experience. Did my PB almost immediately.

What is your PB and at what track?

Dude you are talking to a person that played the game like 20 minutes and the rest of the time was fighting with the control settings, what kind of PB do you expect? I'm a rookie, go play with your classmates ;)

. . . I just seriously asked (even because I dont know what kind of lap times you was doing neither what kind of lap times you did).
I dont know if it was a good or a bad time, I dont know if you gained 1s, 3s, 5s or what.
It was just curiosity (and, btw, I usually tend to help those that actually want the help, I may not be the best, far from it, but I understand the basics enough to drive average fast)...
Your "dismissive response" replied enough to me, good luck :)

Time will tell. I gained about 1s or so. I was getting (and still am) bad times, but that's me driving bad I'm afraid. As I said I just started with this game, still getting a feeling for it. Who know's, if it grows on me I might get a steering wheel + pedals set. Thanks, good luck to you too.
