Better gamepad input support: gas settings
Hello,

I just got the game and have to admit I'm amazed by the realism of the simulation, but am quite frustrated with the way controls work with this game. I don't have a steering wheel, I play with a gamepad. There are a lot of settings for steering when using a gamepad, and after several painful hours of testing I might have found an adequate setup for my gamepad. However such settings for the gas are completely missing, or am I blind? I have zero control over the 0-80% gas range, it's pretty much an on and off there and I can only control the upper 20%. This doesn't work at all, I cannot give smaller amount of power and I end up spinning out. Cranking up the TC like crazy mitigates this a bit, but is not a good solution especially on the wet or at very low speeds where TC doesn't work that well.

It would be nice to see this addressed in a future update. Also if you have any advise, I appreciate it. Thank you.

I have an EasySMX SL-9111 GamePad for casual gaming. The game detects it as
"productName": "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)", "productId": "42861662-0-0-00807368867368",

I agree that ACC needs more options for adjusting throttle & brake, but in your case it sounds like the issue is your controller not being natively supported by the game. If you are using X360ce you could try adjusting trigger settings in X360ce.
I play ACC using a wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller and controls work fine for me, throttle & brake work on the full range of motion of the triggers.

Exactly. Would be nice to have some settings but it's fine. Maybe all brakes are too sensitive and that would be better with different linearity but I don't use ABS so it's on me mostly. :D

I'm not using X360ce and the controller works fine as far as I can see in other games and when looking at the raw output. The trigger has linear output and works fine, but in ACC it doesn't. It's like ACC expects an exponential controller, but this one isn't. That's why the setting is needed per game. If I adjust my controller with a program such as X360ce I would end up screwing up the other games.

For anyone else: try using Steam Input for this game, seems to work much better than the default xinput and you can also adjust the response curves of triggers and joysticks. Steam is awesome!

can you give gamepad settings in game please ?

Sure. You have to make settings in two places. In Steam (enable Steam Input for the game if not enabled), then right click on the game --> manage --> controller layout. I started with the default layout, then did only one change, I changed the trigger response curve to "Aggressive" for the right trigger. This works well with my controller, but you might want to try the relaxed or wide curves as well. You can also define a custom curve but you need to go to steam big picture mode to do so, it's not possible to set the curve with the normal UI.

Then the in game settings:
* deadzone: 2%
* speed sensitivity: 75%
* steer filter: 10%
* steer speed: 50% (can be higher if you are accurate... I'm not)
* steer gamma: 3.0
* steer assist: enabled (I tried with disabled, but the front tires always overheat, it's hard to counter-steer without the FFB of a steering wheel).

I've read this post to understand a bit what the settings in game do https://coachdaveacademy.com/tutorials/ultimate-assetto-corsa-competizione-controller-settings/

I hope it helps.
