You increase SA by driving close to others and the higher all the ratings of the other driver the faster your SA improve, but the lower (or lower in relation to your ratings) the slower your SA improve, also the more often you get hit the slower it increases because it takes longer to add +1 SA and easier to lose, but if you dont get hit often you may get hit 5x and not lose SA or losing only -1 SA
If i remember correctly the higher your rating gets the longer it takes to build, going up 2 in 2 races aint bad, your clearly going in the right direction, i dont think it will take you long to get past 80.
Stick with it.
I am racing against AI and driving close proximity along them. Just was not sure if this is normal.
I should be 80 SA in my next AI race so should be okay.
Thank you both for your comments.
Absolutely agree with you and resin for 80+ SA is to join the LFM league servers.
I understand online will always have variety of skill sets and some who will just cause issues or have a care free attitude to ruin the grid hence I am trying to get into LFM league.
I only get 3-4 hours a week to race so trying to make the best out of it. So far I am loving ACC more than iracing.
I dont care about the race itself, just the practice so 30min/day to 2h/day (depending on the day more or less) on any server or solo is fine by me (never joined LFM neither care about)
You can gain it by racing offline, but the gain rate is much slower than if you play online.
For instance, online in a 20 minute race, you could in theory take out a guy flat out in t1 at Monza, pit, repair, return to track, follow a guy for 4 laps nose to tail and not lose any SA. You would gain back what you lost easily.
The issue you have is that is is not merciful and programmed horribly, so that guy you take out at T1 at Monza, he loses 4 GBWP, you lose maybe 6, when it is blatantly obvious to any programmer who could be arsed to do any work on that there was only one person to blame in that incident.
People ♥♥♥♥♥ out the same old excuses about SA saying it is impossible to apportion blame, in some cases true, but in lots of cases garbage, if you are taking what the game knows (a quick look at AI values is easy to do there) is a decent, normal speed in a turn and a player is hit by someone going much faster, it is obviously not the first persons fault so they don't lose SA, it would be easy, simple, cheap to do this.
If you taken out by lappers, again in a tiny percentage of cases you might be to blame, but we have all been there, guy joins 10 minutes in and decided HE is going to race that 3 car pack for the lead aswell and ends up taking a few out, no way should ANY of the leaders be losing SA there, in real racing (which this game supposedly represents) a few blue flags missed and this guy is black flagged or penalised.
It would be SOOOOO EEEAAASSSSSYYYY to enforce a slow down if you miss 4 blue flags say, ghost his car so he cannot retaliate and let the leaders get on with their race, but no you lose GBWP etc if he decided to get involved and take people out.
it is gormless, lazy and pathetic development, that is all there is too it,
When at public lobbies drive for yourself and others or accept the consequences, deciding to not let go thinking everyone will act accirdingly to avoid hitting you is as much lack of awareness as those that do crap out of complete lack of racecraft and awareness, because public lobbies are noman's land in terms of that and many rookies with high SA have no clue how to stay inside the track much less to keep track of spotter distance, mirror or track map if they already suffer to stay inside the track on their own, so whenever you notice you are aproaching someone 3s, 5s, 10s slower than you, you take extra care and dont expect the much slower driver to take care with you (but expect that slower driver to take care of you the mafia way by throwing you under the bus).
And then how sometimes mega difficult it can be to get it back. peopel like you will say Oh just follow a guy real close for a few laps, that is now always as easy as it might seem, they might be faster than you, which probably for you is not very many hence your attitude about it, or much slower, warping, prone to numerous mistakes. So it is often quite a few races in a row that you might get the chance to race with someone.
its kind of like if your joining at random to public rookie lobby race every time expect there to be people that dont know much or are just used to arcade/wreckfest type racing.
i would at the very least try to keep track of what public lobbys you have had good clean racing in and try to join those lobbys and not the other monza/spa nightmare lobbys.
i feel like i got pretty lucky the US competition server that is hosted in game is pretty good and clean 3 races a night ive been doing this almost daily for over a year now and its been pretty nice i have not even joined lfm and rarely do public lobbies my SA has been 99 for a year or more now so i feel like sometimes you just need to find somewere else to race at if things are really going that bad for you or you need to just focus on avoiding crashes idk how often i wait to turn into a corner because i can tell the guy behind is going to fly through the inside and would kill me if i did turn in just being ready to avoid stuff if your in a group of cars slow down for yellows and cations also go along way to good SA
still people sometimes just have a really bad day or things happen a couple weeks ago someone i have done dozens of races with was mad that i held the inside line and he went for the inside and we wrecked he freaked out and tried to kill me for 30 mins i think he cause us to crash 6-7 times giving me 90 seconds of damage by the end of the race honestly not sure whats going through some peoples heads when stuff like this happens i just tried to ignore it and finish the race only lost one position and also did not even go down to 98 safety gained saftey at the end lol
so yea i do feel cases like this should be looked at a little different and who knows maybe that guy did lose more SA than me i have no way to really know all i know is i barely lost any and really i have to have 10-15 wrecks in 1 race to knock me down to 98 so i think it does kind of keep track decent and know weather you get in wrecks often or not
the key is to find a good public server with admin/stuart or join a community more or less i would also try the competition server races although your luck may very depending on region there is usually server tiers so like rookies will be in one server and higher ranked people in the other and what not so it can help sometimes there is only 1 server and it can be a little messy(US server has less people the EU) EU also has races every hour other regions do not and your region may not even have this available unfortunately-i do wish they would let you change your region to join these other regions and race some new people occasionally i somehow get put in a EU race just not to race more often
