Best way to improve performance?
My pc is a fairly old at this point (running an Nvidia 1060), but in order to get stable fps I either have to drop the game's resolution or reduce the number of AI cars shown to around 3, (along with the lowest graphics settings overall), and both of which make it much harder to play the game because it's either harder to see the corners in front of me or I try for an overtake and run into a previously-invisible car.
Is there a specific setting I can reduce or turn off to improve performance in a way that doesn't affect gameplay (I don't care about how fancy stuff looks I just want to play).

Turn on FSR for a decent boost, turn down shadows, mirrors etc. Experiment a little and see what changing settings does in terms of frames on your system.

1060 is a little borderline and if the rest of the PC is of a similar standard you will need to do a bit of tweaking to get it running OK. Probably doable though. What CPU RAM etc has the PC got and what resolution are you trying to run this on. Anything more than 1080 sounds like maybe too much to ask.

esp if its a 1060 3gb do not expect to much i would think the 6gb model would be decent though. this game also uses alot of CPU power so if your cpu also is not decent you wont get very good performance dont get me wrong older is sort of different for everyone i have a i7-8700k cpu this is 5 years old and really performs great still i would think most intel 4th-5th gen i5 and i7 cpus would still do well enough.

it does kind of sound like a hardware limitation i would think if you have any amd ryzen cpu it should be decent enough as well. but older than that im not to sure.

if you have the 6gb 1060 and also a cpu like mentioned above(you should still update with all your hardware specs) than i would read the stuff below

i would find a program that you can check all you gpu and cpu temps i personally use HWMonitor by CPUID its free and almost a must have in my opinion.

there is also a website called userbenchmark if you google it should be the top link if you look there is a tab that says test and than you can do a quick benchmark test although its a little to fast it like 2 mins it will give you some idea of how your hardware stacks up and at what % it is performing compared to others with the same hardware keep in mind HWMonitor or something you can check temps while running ACC is still probably better.

run the game for 10 mins you could even just watch a saved replay or something and HWMonitor will monitor all the temps of everything and show you the max min and current temps you pretty much want to be less than 75C on cpu and gpu once you start getting higher than that you can run into throttling issues where the gpu and cpu basically limit itself so it wont overheat if temps are a issue you can find a way to turn up your gpu fan speed stock is usually very low and not enough in alot of cases also your cpu heat sink could be clogged with dust and not properly cooling anymore same with your gpu do no vacume this stuff as you can cause static and kill your motherboard compressed air can work well or just taking the stuff apart and cleaning manually works well too.

if you have no other option and temps are a issue you can even take the side panel off your computer case and just have a normal fan blowing into it.

Thanks for the tips and let me specify my specs a little more
I'm running an Acer Predator laptop (which can understandably be causing heating problems) that has a 1920x1080 screen, with a 6gb GTX 1060, Intel Core i7-7700, and have 32 gb of ram.

I'll definitely check out userbenchmark and although I have MSI Afterburner if you think HWMonitor is more accurate for cpu temps I look into that as well.

honestly you should get decent results at 1080p i would think with fsr you might even be able to pull off 1440p so it seems like something is really not working properly might be worth trying to reinstall the game

oh haha totally missed the laptop part so i am guessing its heat problems or you need to change your power settings
goblueteam Mar 25, 2022 @ 11:39am
msi afterburner is good too does it allow you to turn up your fan speeds? some laptops dont but i would try to run max fans on your cpu and gpu if possible

Sadly it does not let me change the fan speeds, and after doing a 10-minute quick race and then while watching the replay my "temp" (don't know if that means cpu, gpu, or both) was hovering around 88-90 degrees celcius. Guess this means I need to go in and clean the fans lol

maybe just hotlap. It's very nice hotlap.
At low resolution, I prefer playing Assetto Corsa, not competizione.

the specs are decent enough, should be ok with medium settings

does this thing have the internal GPU working instead of the 1060 ?
check/update all driver versions

Maybe try this fan control app https://asus-fan-xpert.en.lo4d.com/windows
