Games on Playstation and Xbone are required to have achievements, so players get points that increase their gamer score, or something like that. On Steam games they are not mandatory, thankfully.
You can turn off the Steam overlay for any game you don't want to see the achievement notifications for.
completely agree with you on this. achievements/trophies are just participation awards. but then again, grew up in the era playing games where such thing never existed.
If you want to enlighten me about the meaning of Steam spamming popup messages that you have unlocked a little picture on your Steam profile because you have completeted the feat of driving at 100km/h, or earned a track medal, or whatever, please do. I kinda suspect you will not be able to make a very convincing case.
Turning off Steam overlay has the small drawback that it turns off Steam overlay, Einstein. Steam overlay which has actual uses besides spamming achievement popups. How about you don't try to be clever.
Just to be clear, I would have loved to have achievements in this game as well, it is just I don't see that happening. And for the people who say it isn't important... It is to me. We don't need official servers, we don't need statistics or stats, we don't need single player, we don't need challenges, we don't need liveries... But the game would be worse if they weren't there. Just because you don't use something, it doesn't mean it isn't something other people would like to see added to the game. I don't play the career, and I don't do the challenges, but I don't runt about developers spending time into those areas.
Your reasoning is stupid. Steam is the first to have implemented achievements and subsequently the consoles followed. This is a common and historical feature of all Steam games. Well exploited this adds goals to achieve and where fun achievements. If the gamer likes it it increases the lifespan of a game. Disliking its a right but wanting to remove or not add features to a game is ridiculous. I could say the same for statistics, or skins which are also not essential .... Some people don't like success because they are quite simply frustrated.
You must be fun at parties eh
