Mid Race Save
Currently in the middle of a single player championship season.
Shortened the 24 hours of Spa to a 12 hour event, but obviously this is still too long to complete without using the mid race save and coming back later.
However, I'm currently about 4 hours into the race, and when loading the session, the load times have become excessive. At least 5 minutes to resume the session, and ACC is usually pretty fast when loading a fresh race for me (well under a minute, it's typically one of the faster loading sims IMO)
Anyone else experiencing very long load times with mid race saves? It may be my imagination but I feel like the longer i get into this race, the longer the load times....I'm afraid I'll be waiting 10 minutes plus towards the latter stages of my race.

Not sure if related but was doing a 12hr at Bathurst and It kept crashing to desktop after about 2 hours in. It crashed as soon as I would press continue after loading a save. If I restarted it was fine but I couldn't continue the race for some reason.

It was heavy rain and the AI sometimes crash in the dry when loading so put it down to many AI cars crashing?? I've stuck to 3hr races since and only save once or twice. The AI crashing was bad enough but if you cant trust saving the game It might be worth doing shorter races in future?

Ive noticed that the AI is pretty sloppy when loading a mid race save. In fact its the only time Ive seen AI cause yellow flags and wreck out of a race. Thats a shame about yours crashing though. But yeah I suppose keeping the races shorter would fix the problem of the mid race loads. Sorta liked the idea of doing a longer endurance and using that feature, but it seems its not quite there yet

Never had any issues before or since that race so I don't know. Bathurst has throws up CPU warnings in game a few times even tho my CPU never goes above 30%. In game it says 100 but MSI is fine. Could be a Bathurst thing?

Since the AI update with the 2020 content, every time you load a save 1 or 2 AI will spin instantly. I do full grids and its normally always the backmarkers so try to not let it bother me to much (if 30+ AI are still racing)

I've done loads of endurance races with saving and never had your issue tho. Just thought might be worth saying as mine was a 12 HR race as well. Wanted to do the Intercontinental championship but went 2019 with 3 hr or 90 mins races instead. Was hoping to do spa as a 12 or 24 so let us know how you got on. Good luck! It would suck to lose all that time.

I did some digging around, and in the "My Documents" folder there is an Assetto Corsa Competizione folder. Within that folder there is a "SaveGame" folder, and a few .json files within. the "4SE.json" file contains all of the settings for the currently saved raced, and is normally a simple text file containing driver names, weather setting, difficulty settings etc.

This file is usually fairly small (a few hundred KB of text). This text file for my Spa race was 1.6 GIGABYTES! I've restarted the race and saved the file is now only 206 KB. Much faster load times. I have no idea how that file had gotten so huge...
Same problem here, my file is over 1.8gb and I just do not want to restart the race again
any other solution?

Not that I'm aware of unforntuately. I'm not sure what causes the files to get so large sometimes. How long is your race currently? I had an issue with mine on the 24 hours of spa (played as a 12 hr race however). A couple of hours in it was unplayable with the load times. However I did a full 6 hour at Paul Ricard, and load times were quick throughout.

I wonder if it isn't necessarily how long the race is, but how many times you save and reload that somehow begins to drastically increase the file size.

What I did (which wasn't really a solution i suppose) was just restart the race weekend, and made the length shorter so I didn't have to save and reload so many times
Just my second 1h race , in career mode, I did save at least 3/4 times and still mid race, the reason I save soo much its because I push the car to my limits with 0 assists and crash sometimes

It takes now to load on a very fast ssd , with 20 min of racing left, more than 5min... All I wanted was a brake from Iracing with an oflline experience... but this load times are making me nuts

Yeah that is crazy, and similar to what I was experiencing. At spa I kept wiping out going up Eau Rouge, and thats why I was reloading and eventually the load times were so long. Have you tried restarting the race weekend? That at least wipes that huge file and starts fresh. Obviously you lose your current race data, but that 4SE.json file went from over a gigabyte back down to like 200 kb when i restarted at spa
I did not restart it, and did finish the race, driving slow and safe, and file size is now normal and loading fast, I guess I can not just save that many times. I guess it does not matter if you have an overkill pc for the game, if you save too much, loading times will increase

There seems to be some duplication issue in the SE file. Each time you save (or load, i don't know) it duplicates all the entries related to teams and track status.

Yes this is what I figured. The SE file should be fairly small for a given race. Just some text parameters for drivers and track conditions etc. at one point the file was so enormous notepad refused to open it! Definitely a duplication (multiplication??) issue with how these files are updated with frequent saves throughout a race

I'm also having this issue. I saved five or six times over the course of a race weekend in career mode, and it's now taking about 10 minutes to load into a session (when it doesn't crash). I watched the filesize of 1SE.json increase in explorer each time I saved and it gradually ballooned from a few KB to over 1.5 GB, taking longer to save each time. The game also freezes when saving results at the end of a race.

Strangely, this seems to be the only thread about this issue anywhere. Does anyone know of a way to report this to the developers?

You should report it on the official support site of ACC, not here. First post on the discussion will move you there. be sure to add zip files of your saved game
