It was heavy rain and the AI sometimes crash in the dry when loading so put it down to many AI cars crashing?? I've stuck to 3hr races since and only save once or twice. The AI crashing was bad enough but if you cant trust saving the game It might be worth doing shorter races in future?
Since the AI update with the 2020 content, every time you load a save 1 or 2 AI will spin instantly. I do full grids and its normally always the backmarkers so try to not let it bother me to much (if 30+ AI are still racing)
I've done loads of endurance races with saving and never had your issue tho. Just thought might be worth saying as mine was a 12 HR race as well. Wanted to do the Intercontinental championship but went 2019 with 3 hr or 90 mins races instead. Was hoping to do spa as a 12 or 24 so let us know how you got on. Good luck! It would suck to lose all that time.
This file is usually fairly small (a few hundred KB of text). This text file for my Spa race was 1.6 GIGABYTES! I've restarted the race and saved the file is now only 206 KB. Much faster load times. I have no idea how that file had gotten so huge...
I wonder if it isn't necessarily how long the race is, but how many times you save and reload that somehow begins to drastically increase the file size.
What I did (which wasn't really a solution i suppose) was just restart the race weekend, and made the length shorter so I didn't have to save and reload so many times
Yes this is what I figured. The SE file should be fairly small for a given race. Just some text parameters for drivers and track conditions etc. at one point the file was so enormous notepad refused to open it! Definitely a duplication (multiplication??) issue with how these files are updated with frequent saves throughout a race
Strangely, this seems to be the only thread about this issue anywhere. Does anyone know of a way to report this to the developers?
