Assetto Corsa Competizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione

Is the multiplayer alive?
I am thinking of buying the game, however, I am not sure if the low player count equates to a hard time finding lobbies? I live in Europe.

Also, considering the low player count, does it make the game more or less unplayable fot me due to the very dedicated fanbase? I am not very good at racing games but I do always attempt to race clean.

One last thing, are the dlc's needed for online?

Thanks.

So for someone like myself, who isn't great at racing games, does it make more sense to just stick with AC or make the switch to ACC for what I think will be a more fleshed out multiplayer experience?

It is your choice, we both have a lot of games in common, I own all the racing simulators released on steam, you only own Assetto Corsa with 35 Hours play time in total I would say yes stick with Assetto Corsa for now.

I wouldn't call 2,134 In-Game right now at 17:22 pm GMT low for a racing sim dedicated to GT3 racing.

Pointless comment. Could mean anything since it could be 2k in offline or competitive servers.

[Updated]
The sim has a ranking system for online play so you are going to have work, it is nothing like Assetto Corsa, which you also own.

Quite different titles so you can't really compare them. If you are looking for a 'complete' GT3 experience, than ACC is what you want. If you just enjoy driving and like different types of cars, AC is a good option. If money is not a concern, get them both but the ACC online activity is high enough for you to enjoy (and there are many leagues around).

Let me start by saying that the multiplayer is preatty much alive. You can allmost allways find 15 to 20 players on Monza, Spa or Imola to race. Competition races, the long races, are only 3 or 4 a day and are usualy full.

But thats not the only reason to recomend this game. I think its the best game to enter sim racing, and learn to drive safely and fast. The game rewards not only race results but analyses your driving in specific and clear points so you have a clue on where to get better. Also, being just GT3, rather stable cars with ABS and TCS by default, you can start soon to get clean laps and you can focus on just one type of car. Its easier then going around from category to category. Phisics are very good, the game is beatifull, multiplayer is tame by safety rating, and its allmost bug free. I find it just a little bit heavy to run on my machine, a R5 3600 and a 1070Ti, but it is enough to stable 60fps on 1080p. CAnt do it on 1444p without lowering the settings a lot.

Yes the average driver is very good when you start to enter races that require high safety rating and track knoledge, But so will you, even if you cant get close to aliens. Midfield is very competitive :)

I'll definitely buy the game at some point but for someone like me who just isn't good at racing games, I'll stick to AC until I get a bit better.

I am new to SIM Races with Wheel and pedal.
Used to be good at PS 3 GT5 time ago with my controller.

I buyed both Assettos ca at same time, because i calculatet buying both Assetto Corsas + wheel would be still alot cheaper then buying an extra console for GT 7.

Now i switching back and forth between both AC's.

Assetto Corsa for the Tons of MOD i installed having fun against AI, and Competitione to Race online.

That's the ticket, AC is the best for mods whilst still being very decent, but you'll have to join a club to find grids full of clean fast drivers, Acc is all about online competition, the rating system works very well and If you cant be bothered with the subscription of iracing it is the only sim that properly provides public lobby competition with similar skilled opponents.
What you said is spot on.

For such a niche sim racing title, the multiplayer is indeed very alive. But there's some gate keeping going on. Before you have access to all the servers you need to get your track medals ans safety ratings.

it feels like its about 1.4k in offline, its strange to pay full price for this game that looks better than iracing or rf2 with an awesome physics engine, and have to search around for 10 minutes at a time to find a lobby with people in it

You must be playing a different game than the rest of us.

Never get these comments. It could be that when he's on, the servers are not as populated, hence the time taken to find a game. Liking the game should not invalidate others experiences with the game.

I have played plenty of games where the player count was similar (or even bigger) and finding a game was a struggle. It's not unusual.
