SA Rating
Hello Guys,
My Saftey Rating goes down every race even though I don't collect any OWP points or have any Contacts.
This is in AI races as well as multiplayer.
My CC ist 90, My CN ist 92 My SA at hte Moment 92.
Last Week i was SA 98.
This Problem also have other Driver, i have seen Videos on You Tube with the same Problem.
Do you have any Idea ? Is this a bug?
Thanks and best regrads
Steve

TL;DR - The ill-conceived SA system in this game requires (for some ridiculous reason) that you drive closely to other cars (either AI or real drivers) without making contact. IT also bases this on how often you drive (play the game). So, if for example you don't play the game for a week, and then you do and you are not near any other drivers, in theory your SA could go down. The game requires that you race regularly and that you are close to other cars with no contact. Then, while you do this, over time, your SA will increase. If however, an AI drives into you, though no fault of your own, you SA could go down right away. It's a terrible system, which really only rewards pretty fast drivers that race closely enough to other drivers. Even if they get a little contact, they can maintain high SA because they are constantly racing closely with very little contact. So: The more racing, either AI or MP, closely with minimal contact raises your SA. Problem is we all too often get punted and then punted again and too often see times of lowering SA. But it you really care enough, work hard at being with the clean guys, close and no contact. Thanks for reading my book on SA.
To me it would have made more sense to make it (at least) like iRacing. There as long as you are clean. Not going off the track and not making contact with other drivers, your 'SR' will increase. Here, you can drive 200 laps, but if you're not near other cars, you will gain 0 SA. If Porsche hired me to test a car and do 50 laps at Monza, they will not say I'm an unsafe driver because I did clean laps not near other cars. They would agree I was safe if I stayed on track weather I was near anyone or not. Besides, even the so-called 'fast' drivers don't really know how to driver near other cars. Often times I am punted by those guys. They are fast perhaps, but they know nothing about real life racing. If they can't get by, they just shove you out of the way. If they do this twice per race, but spend enough time close to other cars, their SA could still go up or last maintain. In iRacing, if you make contact, you instantly lose 4 SR. I think that system makes a lot more sense. Of course I've mentioned other systems that could be much better, but Kunos is not interested.

Like ProtonV5 said you can lose safety rating by not being near any cars for long periods. If you have one race where your within a second of 2 cars the whole race your SA goes up a lot and you also gain trust when you complete a race. The longer the races the more trust you gain when you cross the line.

Now if your safety rating is 90 after a few races but you do a 3 hour race but are not near cars for the whole race your SA will drop slowly throughout the race. You will gain a huge amount of trust after completing the 3 hour race but you might lose more SA than you gain just because you weren't racing close to someone for such a long period.

I mainly play single player so just turn ratings off. I can't say I care what they are but to see SA drop just because I do endurance races and AI gets spread out seems like a bad design to me.

thanks ProtonV5 and dc2dixon for your answers. I think the new SA Rating System makes no fun. ACC is a great Simulation but the Ranking is realy bad and takes me the motivation. Maybe i play I Racing in the future...regards, Steve

Lets remember acc is non subscription and iracing is a monthly subscription and much more money to buy each car and track.Acc ranking system is pretty much the best out there right now for a non subscription game by far. I own and have played iracing for 5 years. This game does a fairly good job at it.

Gaining safety rating while driving alone for an hour hardly makes the system worth having. You are rated how well you occupy the track with other cars. Therefore, you will not lost SA for not being around other cars, but you WILL gain Trust when you are around other cars. Obviously if you make contact, whether you're at fault or not, you will accrue OBWP. The amount you can gain while still maintaining a high SA is generous if your Trust is high enough.

Yep, we get all that. But the SA system as it is really doesn't work. Honestly, it hasn't worked that great in iRacing lately either as drivers have gotten way more aggressive and could seemingly care less about punting someone off. The result is the same: If I'm a fairly quick driver I can stay up front. But when it comes to the last couple laps all too often those same high SA drivers have no issue sending you into the trees for a minor loss in trust that results in basically no real loss in SA. Same is iRacing. I've suggested to developers of both sims that a virtual monetary system would be more real life and more effective.

Safety rating can and does go down without any contact if your not racing near people for long periods. It's a average and if your doing longer races you can lose quite a bit through no fault of your own.

I think the SA rating calculations in ACC are just bonkers!! You can race cleanly for many race and work hard on improving your SA, and then 1 or 2 races on a public server with some bonkers raming you, and your SA goes down with absolutely no fault of your own. I race on private server, and if I am involved in an accident with no fault of my own, the guy responsible get the penalty points or a warning, that how it should be, it is quite easy to determine if a car change trajectory more than once in a straight or brake too late and ram someone else, even AI can determine that!! AI could easily work out the average and extreme breaking points for each turn on each track, and work out if someone is going beyond these and hit another car; similarly AI can be trained to recognised dive-bombing, unusual changes of trajectory, or which cars hit (e.g. an immobile car stopped because of a previous accident should not be penalised, etc.) Some improvement to make Kunos!! And I am sorry, saying "this is the way it is, live with it" is NOT the answer. Is it like this in real racing? No, you have racing commission that sanctionned or not pilot according to their faults, although AI will never be able to reproduce this, it is possible to dramatically improve the rating system in place in ACC!! Come on Kunos!
