FFB Fanatec CSW 2.5 clipping twitching in every corner
Hello,

I recently upgraded from a G27 to the Fanatec CSW 2.5. So far so good.
The wheel base works extremely well with Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally (1)

For ACC the FFB is of course different, but I am noticing a strange clipping or twitching in every corner with every car at any speed above app. 30 km/h.

I will try to explain: I cannot take a corner in ACC without the wheel constantly twitching / clipping towards the centre . As soon as I steer, let`s say 15°, the wheel “clips” every 1 – 2 secs no matter the speed or the angle. Please note this is happening at a constant low speed and with constant angle of the steering wheel. I cannot take a smooth long corner at any speed without this strange twitching. If I push car to understeer that is a different story.

This feels very unrealistic and I do not understand this force. The FFB indicator in the view settings will permanently jump from 0- 20 or 30% while steering the slow corner at constant speed and constant wheel input.

Please note, the FFB indicator stays grey. The feeling reminds me of clipping on my G27.

All other FFB effects are fine, I can fell the road, the friction, the weight against steering at high speeds, bumps and kerbs. All these effects are fine.

I cannot understand why I cannot take a corner without this twitching/clipping.

I am using the recommended settings from the Fanatec website:

Assetto Corsa Competizione (PC) - Fanatec Recommended Settings

ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5
Tuning Menu Settings:

SEN 900
FF 100
SHO 100
ABS User Preference
DRI -01
FOR 100
SPR 100
DPR 100
BLI User Preference
FEI 100

In-Game Settings:

Steer lock: 900
Gain: 70
Min Force: 0
Dynamic Damping: 100
Road Effects: 0

Drivers 328 on the CSW 2.5.

Reducing the gain has no effect, the clipping in corners is still present, just weaker.
The dynamic damping I recall also had no effect.

As stated above, Assetto Corsa is amazing with this wheel, so I know that it is working right.

Thanks for any input, maybe I am missing something.

Cheers
Deadmeat

in short... sell that fanatec crap and get something good

lol, some guys ...

@deadmeat perhaps removing the controls.json may help - (or the whole user dir) and then create a new setup. I have the same wheel and can assure you it is working fine
and check that you have no assists on

Hi Wolke, thanks for the tip. I will try it!

Cheers!

Thanks goobMB. I will try beta drivers.
I deleted the control.json and reset the steering, no change.

Steering constantly gets an impulse to straighten, reducing gain and dynamic dampening made no change.

This is exactly why I sold my Fanatec gear. Hate to say it. My T-GT has a much better feel. Perhaps I'll get a direct drive one of these days, but was never happy with Fanatec. It was either too rubbery, too notchy, too numb etc. etc. It was a nice wheel. Felt heavey etc. But with that heaviness, the detail was just not there.

I can assure you the csw 2.5 is incredible in Assetto Corsa 1 ad Dirt Rally. only ACC is pissing me off

Never had the issue but i am using Driver 328, wheel base firmware 662 and motor firmware 20. Also maybe turn down FEI? I normally use 70 - 80 but on ACC currently at 60.
Deadmeat Jul 27, 2020 @ 2:05pm
Fei down to 60 is a good idea. I think I have 328 and 682. No idea which motor firm ware.
But i will give it a try!
Wolke Jul 27, 2020 @ 11:03pm
I am on 664/22, driver is 347. And my FEI is on 70, thats enough

Sorry the "notchy" issue of CSW V2.5 and CSL E PS4 which some testers experienced is still under investigation and couldn't get fixed yet. I've attached motor firmware V20 which has less coil whine than V18 and less notching than V22 according to some testers.

is that "notchy issue" your problem perhaps ?

Just saw that 365 is ready, maybe give that a try

https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/1777/fanatec-beta-driver-v361-now-v365-for-csl-csw-and-podium-bases-all-wheels

But thats still weird, if its an issue with FW/driver it should happen in every game or not ?

if nothing helps , i would remove the whole ACC userfoldr, let steam check integrity and try again. after that complete reinstall after that new wheel ;)

And is the logitech driver and software still installed ?

I actually had a blast with my CSWv2.5 I used the recommended settings except I had Drift mode at -2 for a harder feeling.

Can you post a video of the clipping? I am not sure we have established if you are actually clipping or not.

Easy with 365 if you use Universal Hub. Buttons don't work with that.

Hi Wolke,

The wheel works great with AC and Dirt Rally 1, so the problem is just with ACC.

I will first delete the complete user folder and make sure all Logitech software has been removed.

I will report back.

That is a very good point. To be honest, maybe the physics of the game makes the wheel jerky in every corner no matter the surface, friction or bumps? I cannot say. could be.

I will try to post a video, but I will not manage this before the weekend.
