AI cheating during career races, not pit stopping?

I noticed that not all of the AI pits during a mandatory pit stop. And if they do, its reflected in their lap times but they seem to retain their place and it doesn't add up. However I don't, for example I am 6th going into the pit I come out I'm 14 and it stays that until the end of the race. I should have gotten my place back or somewhere close when the other AI drivers pit. Then my laptime is 14+ seconds off the leader.

... wait, ok I understood AI is not entering pit but, you leave pit you are 14s pace slower than leader?
What was your pace before you got to pits?

Not sure of my pace in that race outside of, I was driving fast. I watched another race and this time, I pitted immediately. The AI cars did not pit. I was 4th when I pitted. Of course with the AI cars not pitting I went to 14/16. The strategy naturally is that I will retake my position or more once the AI cars pit. The AI cars seemed to pit in the next 2 laps based off the warning that cars are leaving the pit.

My pace in the race; I had a fastest lap and just as fast or faster then the AI cars. But when I'm approaching the pit exit while lapping. The AI car(s) exit before me and stay ahead, so I stay at 14th. I worked my way up a few places.
It just seems, the AI cars pit stops are faster then mine or there is something else thats funky.

I noticed too in other races, that If I pit first, then AI pits after me in the same pit stop, they leave first and I have to wait.

And I cannot confirm all the cars pitted. Usually when you get the warning cars are leaving the pit area, I only see one AI car leaving.

Are you fixing your car and doing everything else at pit or just making it for the min mandatory time?

The more things done at pit the longer it takes.

I just go in and pit and they switch my tires and make me wait 6 seconds for controls to be released.

Exactly the same thing is happening to me. Enter pits in 1st place - end up 6th after the pit stop. i was a few seconds faster than the car behind me when i was leading but ended up 16 seconds behind the leader at the end of the race. Something is definitely wrong. AI also keeps the same pace when they are on grass or sand. Really wish they would fix this crap.
