Each track gives you a maximum of 3 medals. If you have 8 it means you have medals for multiple tracks.
In single player mode "prove" you are familiar with the track by completing clean laps. That's how you get your medals. Admins don't want people coming online and learning a track in the middle of qualifying or race and hindering others.
Note you can get medals on wet tracks with less laps. You get the 1st medal for completing 1 clean lap.
and just drive on track.. In upper right area by rankings TR should open up and you should see green bars.. 2nd star requires 2 laps and then 3rd star 4 clean laps. If you fail and go of track and any point it resets...and you have to do 4 more laps
if you too slow you will not get the star so you really got to learn the track and no you dont have to be pro to get 3 stars just a little bit of practice.
