So as long as you understand that the pedals offer you at most as much as gamepad so not everything is possible, you'll be fine :).
Also note that for Jimmers and other streamers their racing rig is their work tool. You definitely don't need to have proffesional equipment to just have fun.
Logitech Driving Force GT Guide (Thanks to the maker)
The feel of the car and track gets waaay better than with default settings.
Secondly, If you or your friend got a 3d printer, or local company that takes 3d print orders. You probably want to check this paddleshifter mod out. I got one just today, and its whole different shifting feeling.

But dont worry, its not the best wheel in the market, but it does the job. This is actually my 2nd DFGT set. I sold 1st one out because I wasnt driving that much, but when I started again, I wanted it back :D
Shouldn't have used it to dig the garden then /shrug.
Logitech/Thrustmaster is Low / Mid end.
Fanatec is Mid-high end.
Any DD is high end.
1) You can open the pedal base and stretch the springs, they are tough to stretch with tools so eat your spinach :)
2) Or put a squishy ball behind brake :)
I have my DFGT at my Fiancees and stretched the springs, work fine.
Snob!
LOL. That is absurd. Fanatec have some very high-end gear. In fact, quite the opposite is true to your comment. Fanatec doesn't make entry level gear. They make mid to high-end only. Of course you can go even more outrageous into direct drive gear but that's ultra-high-end gear that a fraction of a percentage of people use.
I'm an avid sim-racer too, but this elitist attitude is problematic. We should all want to encourage others to join our sport on any gear they can afford. If the DFGT is what is in your budget then go for it. You can certainly be a "Serious Simmer" on even a DFGT. The wheel doesn't matter, it's what is behind it.
