Best Wheel?
What is the best wheel to buy? I'm curently using an Xbox 360 controller. I've been using one with racing games for over 10 years and have gotten quite good at it but I want to experience using a wheel.

Fanatec offers deals at least once a year I know . I too used xbox pads etc for years ( after trying a wheel or two that were bad - so turned me off to wheels altogether )

I'm using experience that I've learned and read ( I'm old now ) over time .

Sure - lap times can be had with anything but experience was what I was after ( that's what finally changed my mind about wheel & pedal setup . Go with something decent , not a toy .

Spend more than you may want to once and be done . Cheers , and best of luck .
Well, if I buy what my eyes have been salivating over, I would end up with the Fanatec Forza Motorsport Racing Wheel / Pedals Bundle[www.fanatec.com] and the RSEAT S1 Sim Cockpit[www.rseat.net].

The best wheel is the Fanatec Podium DD2. Outperforms OSW, Accuforce, all previous Fanatec wheels, and all current TM and Logitech wheels by a long shot.

My Fanatec wheel has lasted me 5 years so far, still strong. Amazing build quality.

I don’t disagree however that might be pushing the limits of what I’m willing to spend and on a wheel setup. I suppose if I could test drive a belt driven wheel base and a direct drive wheel base I might feel differently.

prob cost twice as much, you don't need anything more than an osw tbh

My combo is the Fanatec ClubSport V2 Pedal set with a Thrustmaster T300 Wheelbase and Formula 1 wheel. The combination seems to work really well. In addition, the game auto-detected the individual components. For whatever reason, the force feedback starts at zero gain and zero minimum force. I believe it should start at something around 50%. But that's a conversation for another thread.

I pre-ordered the DD1, the DD2 has too much of an injury risk, even with the killswitch and safety dongle..

I was researching that today. Looks like pre-orders on the DD1 get the DD2 motor inside the DD1 base plus a free 5 year warranty. And there will be some sort of auction before release where the maximum amount of the auction set to $950.

Do I get the killswitch??? I may have pre-ordered the absolute most dangerous combo.. The DD2 motor in the DD1 without all the safety features of the DD2. I'm canceling this if so..

Killswitch is only on the DD2. As I understand it, DD1 preorders are just getting a motor upgrade and will be limited by the electronics so it won't have the same torque as the DD2. I was mistaken regarding the free 5 year warranty on the DD1. Only the DD2 comes with that.

Limited, but how well? That's my worry.

When i upgraded from a cheap thrustmaster i went for a Fanatec CSL Elite, with F1 rim and the load cell brake upgrade. And ended up getting the next level racing F1/GT rig- i bought their stand first but was pretty dissapointed. Honestly, its been great. Was going to get the CSW 2.5, but knew the DD was on the horizon. Maybe one day! Only thing i would add is that i hate the wheel that came with the csl elite, the shifters are poor. Formula rim is great though, feels quality. Especially coming from a cheap thrustmaster. I would wait until Black Friday, i picked my stuff up last year and have an extra set of pedals i never even opened that i forgot about as it was cheaper to get the bundle

DD2 is 25Nm peak while the DD1 will be limited to 20Nm peak via electronics. How accurately it will do that...I don't know. Honestly, I tempted to preorder because of the motor upgrade. I see it as a good trhing.

You're OP and you knew more about this stuff than I do, I don't know why you're asking a question that you can answer yourself lol.
