RT and LT buttons XBOx One controller

Hello,
Just got the game, want to use a controller (don't judge me!), and for some reason the LT and RT buttons won't respond in the game. The game does recognize my controller as steering with left joystick works, as do the X and B buttons for shifting. When I try to configure which buttons I want to use in options, the game reacts strangely when I choose LT or RT: with a huge delay, and will only use one of them. My controleer works perfectly fine in other games. WHen I go to race, nor the LT or RT button do anything.

What might be wrong?

I solved it myself and ashamed I asked :-). Was adjusting the input for the controller while the device was set to steering wheel. The fact that while steering wheel device was selected, underneath was the messag XBox One controller detected. Whatever, thrilled it's working.
