Unable to save Gamepad Settings
I recently bought the game and am unable to set up buttons for up- and downshifting on my Xbox One Controller for PC. I can select buttons to use for switching gears but as soon as I leave the menu the slots for up- and downshifting are unconfigured again so that I don't have any controls for shifting gears available. Whenever I try to "save" a controls preset I can save it with my desired controls displayed but it actually won't save anything except the stupid name of the preset. That way I'm totally unable to play the game unless I play it with automatic transmission which is not going to happen.

I already spent 80 minutes of the 120 minute time mark of refunding the game on trying to make it work. I really hope someone has an idea on what the solution could be or that a fix is going to be available soon (which I don't want to count on) Close to being forced to refund a game I once got very excited about.

I'm not allowed to post in the official ACC Forum btw although I made an account and confirmed the e-mail-adress. Hope the devs see this regardless and fix it because this way the game is useless to me right now.

Well that wouldn't fix the issue for anybody else, as I've seen people complain about this exact problem on the official Assetto Corsa-Forum as well (i can't respond to their thread although I registered properly). Also, if they offer controller settings they need to know about things that simply do not work. "Just pay multiple hundreds of dollars" might not be the solution for a simple but somewhat game-breaking error in the settings saving process, thanks for participating in the discussion tho. :)

I'm having this same issue. Every time I leave the config screen it unbinds downshift. I haven't found a fix yet.

Sad to hear that @Derty. Let's hope they'll fix this soon.

Exact same problem for me. Wanted to change the buttons for shifting and am now unable to shift since it saves everything except the mapped buttons for shifting. I hope reinstalling the game will fix it. Its not even possible to change it to a default setting. nor is it possible to use the old buttons for shifting.
How hard can in be to fix that....

ACC is not Need For Speed nor Forza Horizon. It's a sim, not a game.

You have two solutions: or you keep ACC in your library and you look for money for driving with a wheel later if you think racing is good for you and that you enjoy it. If you don't care being competitive, just get refunded and play other games if you don't intend buying a set for simracing.

2.18.5 at spa with a gamepad and just a preset setup with minor tweaks. Im sure not a pro and will never be but im pretty competitive.

I played Rfactor 2 with a pad race room with a pad and a lot of other racing sims too... never felt uncompetitive.

Ironically enough some fastest lap times in acc are set by people on the pad.

It might be harder to be fast since you need good precision in your fingers but id never say the wheel is faster than the pad.
The wheel is just more realistic and probably much more fun

Just hate it if sbdy says its impossible to play "insert racing sim here" with the pad, because its just untrue

ACC is very much so playable with controller. Really don't know why Frederic keeps on saying the same things which 1. Don't solve the problem, 2. Are not related to the problem situation (wanting to use a controller playing ACC). Really no offense here, but we're old enough to make our own decisions and for me the decision is not to buy a used wheel which already is said to not have the longest of lifetimes. You just can't say "just pay more money" to people having perfectly fine setups expecting to be able to play a game they paid money for.

Is there really no option to change the mapped buttons for shifting via the files in the games library ? I mean its got to be saved somewhere in the games files. This is the only game where i was unable to change mapped buttons via a config file or to find that exact file at all.

Since christmas is heading our way i will probably buy a wheel anyway.

Im just so confused to why such a major gamebraker isnt fixed by kunos themselves or fixible by the customer via a change in the games files.

I really cant imagine that theres no way at all to fix that. Data is saved somewhere and since it isnt protected ( why would one protect a damn config file for mapped buttons ) it can be manipulated...
