Am I just REALLY bad at this game?
It's a genuine question, I've played pretty much every racing sim out there other than iRacing and I usually play AC with the AI at around 95% difficulty. However, I've had to set the difficulty to 80% in this as I'm getting completely owned in the career and I still can't ever seem to qualify above p10. I'm not superb at racing sims or anything and usually have a couple of assists turned on but NEVER stability control, except from in this.

So please can you let me know, am I just VERY bad at this game and in dire need of practise or is ACC just way more difficult than sims like AC, RF2, PC2 etc?

Dunno. For comparison with pCars 2 depending on the track only 120% gives me challenge, but then it becomes boring as the AI is on rails. With this 90% is so hard already that I have to have the car setup correctly and not a liter over fuel or I won't catch people properly. It's hard to me at least, but that's why the sliders are there, for experimenting and finding balance.

Tbh I usually just use net setups as I'm useless at car setups.

I never played career mode and perhaps there is something broken there. But AI at 90% and higher in quick races very much beatable.

I have never used stability control but from what I read in some dev posts SC here will improve stability but greatly reduce your speed. So its an assist in one way that you wont spin but its not helping you get more speed from the car.

Turn this off as from my reading of your post you have it on, not sure what control method your using but to beat the AI at 100% you need to be reasonably close to cars limits at most tracks. There were a few tracks they are a bit slower but I havent ran much AI lately so not sure if they have improved much at their weaker tracks.

If your not using a wheel and pedals it will be harder to be up to pace too.

I use a G29. I turned on SC because I was having huge issues keeping some cars on the track, more grippy cars like the R8 were fine though. I'm usually fairly consistent on most tracks but if what you're saying is true about SC slowing you down then it seems I just need more practice. Thanks. I won't give in!

How do you know your only on 80 in career? As far as I know it was easy, med, hard and realistic (80,87,93,100 maybe) Might have put you on a hard difficulty by default. In the V1 release I was all over the place having to use a pad for the first time in over 5 years yet the recommended difficulty for me was still hard. That was with being about 2 sec of the pace in the academy and having a few spins/cuts. I qualified P2 and P1 the first race using the nsx and finished the race about the same positions. I don't personally find 90 fast but maybe that has improved now? What car did you choose? One of the lambos was a good 2-3 sec slower than everyone else so maybe drive a few in quick race to see which one suits your driving. Just used safe setup with 4 tc and 4 abs and enough fuel for race or quali.

Take the training wheels off and spend some time practising.

Has anyone compared laptimes of the AI?
If one would test them both on like 80%, 95% and 100% we would see if the AI of ACC is capable of driving faster.
At least if the difference is more about 1 sec than a few tenth, because of different track versions and weather conditions, which might differ even on the same settings, because of the different engines?

Currently I´m working on setups, I was able to beat 96% AI with little to no difficulty. Perhaps you just need to get used to the car and track. It´s all about practice just like in the real world. I also recommend using the safe setup and study some track guides, e.g. from unleashed drivers on YouTube. Helped me a lot to find a proper race line.

I used the Nissan GTR in career and have practiced with every car other than the BMW in quick race. I just put the difficulty to the lowest settings in career mode, maybe it's bugged for me or something. As for the fuel to weight ratio it doesn't seem to effect my performance too much, I'm still qualifying terribly.

That's the plan.

Ok so you did change the difficulty. Best bet is to just keep practising then IMO and it will come with time. IMO trying to be fast often has the opposite affect so focus on being consistent first and hitting those apex's and the times will keep improving. I haven't gone past the second weekend but you don't get points for the races so I would assume it doesn't matter if you come first or last every race the career will still progress as normal. Just tell yourself your a rookie in the championship and the targets might be a top 10 finish rather than getting on the podium every race. Good luck!

Me Only in monza i play with ia 100% start 21 in 30 min race i win and is very funny. The others traks 88 90 92, but is good for a nice training. Other games 100 or 120% is easywin.
