Low FPS with RTX 2080 in AI racing (SOLVED)
SOLUTION "FIX": USE LESS CARS -will upgrade ram to run 30 cars.
Hello all, I'm getting really weird FPS in this game. The strange thing is no matter what settings I use i get about 55-65 fps. I have tried hundred of configs. The game doesn't really take a noticeable hit till everything is maxed at 4k. Ive tried 1080p, 1440p, and 4k as well. The odd thing is 1440p and 1080p seems to have no effect on fps.
I understand AI racing requires a beefy CPU but these have apples to apples cpu's pretty much and the cheaper card is crushing the expensive one in 1080p
I have another system with a gtx 1060 6gb, it gets 90fps at 1080p with max settings... and 25-30fps 4k and around 60fps with 1440p...
I don't have problems like this with any other game.
Rain takes knocks it down to about 50-60fps (not tested on other rig)
Cpu usage on the main rig (amd) was about 60-70% usage
Cpu usage on other rig (intel) was at 100% constant

Spec for main rig:
RTX 2080
ryzen 5 2600x
24gb ddr4 2400mhz

Other rig getting higher fps at 1080p:
GTX 1060 6gb
i5 9400f
8gb ddr4 2666mhz

I dont think a few hundred mhz in ram would make that kinda impact.
The main computer is used for Adobe/3d studio programs as well. (also don't think this would make that much of an impact...)

Ryzen does not perform with slow memory. The builds I've done are all using minimum of 3200mhz cl16 ram at least to unleash that power. There's your main problem comparing these two setups. So either OC or just buy a new set. This should be common knowledge at this point, I learned this last year watching Jays2cents and progs like that.

Yes I teach myself animation using After Effects and Element 3d. Im pretty much done now though, so id be okay using my other rig for this stuff. Heck just editing 4k video takes 18-20gb easy. https://www.youtube.com/user/godsgunsproductions
I've never gone past 20-22gigs tho.
Yeah, my friend runs extensive CAD design progs couple of them at the same time for doing buildings internal designs for pipes and ♥♥♥♥. He needs 32gigs. So your usage seems ok, 16 is what I would recommend just for normal gaming, streaming and video editing stuff.
Yes, 24gigs is perfect for someone thats between gamer and professional like I am. I'm kinda excited now, im probably going to wipe both computers and vice-versa their uses.
Also I found some stuff to re-affirm your claim. Pauls hardware: https://youtu.be/G80uG3acg44
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhRSvHeexv4
But here it also doesn't add up... we're not talking about a missing 10 fps, were talking about 30 fps missing in 1440p and 60fps missing in 1080p. According to others with similar hardware.
Maybe reinstalling windows and running it clean could be a decent test, but uhgggg if i wipe for no reason.
Edit: unless this games AI is just that demanding on RYZEN. I wish i could find a test on ACC

We can't say for sure what the baseline should be unless we get to observe some statistics from other Ryzen users and particular of this game. Those benchmarks just prove that it's a valid point, but different games are optimized differently. This is also the harsh reality of PC world, like if a component is broken you need to trouble shoot your hardware with a working component to find it out. You can't just say in many cases what the actual problem is, there are too many variables so we need to start to limit those. Like with the RAM speed with Ryzen, once the baseline is established from the hardware side to be in working order then we need to troubleshoot the software side. I'm kind of used to this stuff, since this is like my 7th own machine I've build over three decades plus to that all those computers build for numerous friends etc.

Kunos has fallen into chaos, they don’t see the feedback from the players, and they have no ability to fix the game.
did you check if windows 10 its running without problems, many people complaint about this game crash but never happen to me except with fh4 but a driver update fix it

You said it right there. 'Many people complain about this game'. What does that tell you?
How do i quote people? lol
And yes true it will probably make a good difference, but im trying to decide if its actually worth throwing 100$ to make one game (possibly) work better.
And yes my windows install is fine, nothing is wrong with windows. I've been a windows user my whole life. I rarely have issues with windows i cant troubleshoot myself. And never have had issues with windows 10.
This has been an issue past 4 or 5 drivers. however many drivers since i got the game.
And also yes, at this point im kinda assuming its just bad optimization with my hardware.
I don't expect ram to fix it, seeing as how it runs completley fine on the rig with 8gb at 2333mhz.
I realize ryzen has a bigger impact but I just dont see how that can make 1080p the SAME fps as 4k? Right? -i feel like something must be wrong with the game
But if it gets me above 60fps min in 4k, 100 bucks is worth it. (which it prolly will)

Good news everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marking ram as the solution now.
The problem was the AI as expected.
Sorry i forgot to test solo and less cars earlier and havent played solo in a whileeeee. I reduced it to 20 cars, i get 90fps at 1080p ultra, 70fps at 1440p, and 60-70 at 4k. My monitor is only 60hz so im not upgrading now. but i know the problem.
Ive never seen my cpu go to 100% unless its cinebench so it must be its not being fully utilized due to bottleneck. It rarely gets up to 80%
Thanks everyone. And @damien thanks for the suggestion that lead to a solution.
(i will probably upgrade ram within a year to play 30 cars)
ohkay 200 FPS while im practice mode at 1080p!!!!!!!!
Man i feel stupid, my nascar obsession got the best of me lol

Np dude. Like Smiler once said, "...why are you people running over 15 car grids?", since it's hard to put more than that in to places like Brands Hatch etc. So 20 is a good place to be IMO. Sims are getting more complicated and I welcome this, if it means I can't drive against 30 cars until I get a 10 core so be it :)
Because its an option, and i like big wrecks :3 lmfao
deff guna get ram to play 30, but i would think the devs wouldn't put 30 in if it wouldn't be playable on at least on some rigs. Or maybe just not optimized yet. I mean 30 cars worked fine on the gtx 1060 6gb thats 1/4th the cost, makes sense...not...

This worked for me, lowering the scale resolution from 100% > 80% gave me the extra 20fps i was looking for.
