Camera Shake
Is there any way at all to remove the cockpit camera shake/bob effects? I find this really distracting, especially when using a low FOV. I've tried the json edit, but it had no effect. It's the one thing that keeps me from ACC at the moment.

Esc - View Settings - reduce the "Camera movement" to low values, or 0% to turn it off

Thanks, but that's the first thing I did. Further, I edited the camera json to "0" values, and the movement is still excessive (made worse by low FOV value).

By any chance are you using the helmet cam?
WesBrook77 Jul 13, 2019 @ 3:24am
I'm not entirely sure of the camera names, but the one I use is essentially the "second" internal camera (if that makes sense: they don't have actual names/labels IIRC).

I use this as it permits a virtual rear view mirror (necessary for low FOV) and a quick glance left and right to the side mirrors.

All the movement settings are at 0, yet ACC just feels more "jarring" with the world movement compared to all other sims. I regularly use rF2 & R3E for example, and those titles have some camera movement as you would expect, but nowhere near as distracting as ACC IMO.

Lock camera to horizon, maybe?
WesBrook77 Jul 13, 2019 @ 4:40am
I have tried locking the horizon, which does improve the world stability, but then the cockpit does not remain fixed and the camera gives the impression of floating around in the car.

Thanks all for the suggestions, though I figure there is no simple way, if any way, to have a (more) stable environment image. I was hoping I was just missing a setting or had some value too high, though I guess not, it's just the way ACC is, and I'll have to learn to live with it.

Not really a huge concern, there are bigger problems in the world than cameras in racing games. Cheers.

In VR that is really annoying to the point that i have to go back to Project Cars2

That because you would move your head in real life according to track details and weight transfer under braking, returning to throttle and doing turns

It will move more or less depending on car setup, vary from car to car and how strapped to the cockpit your head and neck are but if a track is not perfectly smooth (what no real life track is), any sim will deliver such thing.
I know there must be some way to have it full stable but tbh with you I dont even feel connected to the car with everything stable.

Btw ... I have it locked to horizon, the car moves around and I focus on the track, so while driving I dont even notice all the bouncing but if neither the car or the track moves I feel disconnected.

Btw, try setting it in-between lock to horizon and locked to car, you may get it much more stable.

Search for ACC Real Head Movement, brilliant little app, you can tweak pretty much everything

Sure, I know at some point someone will say your brain would do the job to stabilize more the image for you, yes, but all the shaking only make sense (and is more immersive to me as I can visually notice details and intensity of car reactions).

idk maybe just try using the dash cam it does not really move much. i also noticed when i was testing fov how much lowering fov made stuff move and the car jump up and down personally i like higher fov so its not an issue for me 51 is what im runing these days and idk honestly feel like i need to go up a bit but have just left it lol

honestly compared to some other games i dont think ACC is that bad unless your using the helmet cam that has the body roll also keep in mind when your lowering the fov really low your really changing how zoomed in things are so its obviously going to exaggerate movement i would say raise the fov till it does not bother you as much if you can
