Armed to the Gears
Why does it over heat my GPU with in 5-10mins of starting tutorial? Which also is broken for me.
I have decent PC and can play space enginers with out over heating. As well as other games "Ark still over heats it :-(" so not sure whats up. I have settings et to bare minimium and res at a low setting. And every time with in 5-10mins of starting game CAm and windows both give me warnings of heat over 86-94 celceius.

Im includeing pc stats as might be some thing on my end. Ill admit could be my pc but i dont think thats the issue but ill be fair. But for just a simply map with only one moveing assest and lowered graphics. It should not be effecting heat temps like this. If anyone knows a work around id love to hear it. Cant play too much atm untill get a fix as need stay under steams 2hour issue. "game is cheap but if wont run on my system not work paying for sadly. Though i was loveing the game."

EDIT- Forgot to say why tutorial broken for me. I started it and got to part where you upgrade the turrets. But then all i get is a arrow pointing at some tower but no info on what to do! lol i shot it, tried upgradeing it, got mad at shot rockets at it... And tried hitting random buttons all to no avial. And hitting escape for menu dosnt do anything with showing hotkeys or anything.

Sorry I cannot help you with your system but I may actually understand your issue with the upgrading of the 'tower' in the tutorial, and it isn't broken, but I too was confused at the same thing.

You DO get a prompt when you move toward the tower with the red arrows pointing down, and it suggests you upgrade it by pressing the 'space bar' and click on the 'upgrade' button/icon. You then have to go to the BASE/BOTTOM of the tower where you then click your left mouse button. This will do the job and then you will be 'allowed' to move on.

Hope this makes sense :)

Ah ok that helps on that part. i was mouseing over top of tower lol I saw the red arrows but no text prompt showed up. Just one.. wait... when it said upgrade towers i thought ment guns. Maybe it ment that thing?
I moused over the top too at first.

That particular tower in the tutorial you speak of meant upgrade that (only). I'm pretty new myself and am still working it out although maybe later we can upgrade the turrets too. So, a noob myself at present :)

You can upgrade turrets. I did them thinking thats what it ment. I swear it said turrets not tower in that text popup. But i cant rerun game to see due to over heating.

Im still surprised how it over heats my GPU when some real intensive grphic games dont. I think i have some thing set wrong.
If I have misunderstood what it (actually) said then that is OK as I am not at my home PC at present. You may be correct and thanks for your info too. All I can say is that allowed me to progress to the end of the tutorial.

Sorry as I say I cannot help as I am no PC type of guy but I do know I have an i7 6700k 4GB processor and a Nvidia GTX 1080 with 16 GB PC ram. Win10 Pro.

Are your PC fans set to come on at the right time and temperature. Like I say, I'm not really PC literate as I have help with my computer if I require it.

Im one most of family comes to for pc stuff :-) I just messed around with them a lot over the years. As for fans thats a good mention. I have program that runs them. And SUPPOSED to be.. Fan speed jumps up in the stats panel. But i think ibuypower is horrible company for makeing pc's and wont use them again. I had to replace my own audio card as was broken when got it. And had to fight with pc to get it to even use a mic and earphones. And i believe part of heat issue is the water cooler isnt install right and isnt diverting heat. Maybe paste wa done wrong. Just havent had time to rip whole thing apart to check. Wife helped me with keyboard and now it has tape on corner to hold pressure so lights on it work lmao "i just dont have time to redo it lol but hey she spent 2 hours cleaning it so cant complain :-)".

I might just need check water cooling and replace video card. But being on low income due to injury... GPU's cost too much.
None of this PC stuff is cheap, hope it all works out for you my friend :)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ lol decided might as well make a pc as im dreaming atm :-)

But does help make sure i get compatible card.

hey dragonphotoworks, hope you got everything working there.

you may want to try different graphic presets or screen resolutions. try running in windowed mode too, check is that makes any difference in gpu heating. It could have something to do with the gpu drivers or some hardware compatibility issue. If you have access to another PC or notebook, you can try the game there and compare performance.

dragonsphotoworks Nov 14, 2018 @ 7:32am
used 19xx X xxxx res and lowest settings. Windowed mode always seemed to heat it up worst in past. "different games havent tried it on this one yet though".

Its possible its drivers. I dont know.. It happens on a few games. Space engineers is fine... but battlefleet gothic started heating up also. So i dont know whats going on. If its a software or hardware issue.

Yeah... can't be sure, too. Your video card should be ok, I have tested the game on much older ones with reasonable performance, but never personally tested on a Radeon 390.

Let us know if you can find a solution for this issue, we'll add it to the guide's troubleshooting articles.

EDIT
try this website's benchmark tool, it will tell you if your system is running above or below the average of other users with the same setup and some tips to improve:

ok took pc into repair shop. And turns out GPU was issue. We live out on a farm and wood roaches had gotten into it.... Got to love liveing in trees lol So issue wasnt game it was hardware.

But odd thing is why this overheats it. I can play space engineers and others fine. This one blew it up. Its trange how on same hardware one game that would think be low requirements over heats it. But another would expect to it bog it down fast doesnt.

So i be fair and say isue wasnt game. I put due whre its due :-) Thanks for responding and helping. Its awesome when a Dev personnally helps a customer, Im running bench mark on system now. When done ill post it. When get new GPU on friday/monday ill rerun it again.

strange i had CPU checked out and it was fine. Plus the results this time way low compared to last time i ran benchmark. Now sure whats going on now with system. when ran it before it scored way above average. now its way below?

And by that bench mark my GPU is only hardware running great???

Have used this benchmark before. "trying find old results" and every thing was in the "great" mark. now my damaged GPU is only thing in the green?? Im so confused now...
