will there ever be a port of steamworld tower defense?

i always like to play through an entire game series, but i don't exactly want to spend 60 bucks on a dsi and also i couldn't find anywhere that sold the game anymore.

IIRC, the devs said that they would have to essentially rebuild the game from scratch in order to port it over to newer platforms.

Perhaps they will revisit the idea of tower defense sometime in the future.

I greatly prefer the metroidvania and RPG genres to tower defense, and with LoL and DOTA the market is kinda saturated. But +1 to the idea of a prequel to the series. Learning the backstory about how bots replaced humans would be interesting, since that hasn't been explored all that much. I think it would work quite well as an RPG format using the same engine as Steamworld Quest.
