^^This.
You can also deselect the part currently undergoing the assembly/disassembly animation and select other parts to work on while you wait.
(Quick Tip: Invest in the Assistants and the upgrades that grant you more time in the timed missions first, this will save you a lot of time and stress.)
CMS: While you're unscrewing bolts, you're busy doing that and nothing else. It's saved by the fact that (a) speed can be increased with skill upgrades and (b) half of the bolts isn't even there.
PMS: You can mark all the bolts and nuts by holding left mouse button and swiping over them, then right-click and mark next part for removal, or switch to inspection mode and check other parts to see if you even need to remove them. Or even get out completely and go refill oil/coolant or refuel. You can also remove parts without bolts (spark plugs, valves, this kind of stuff) at the same time as bolts get unscrewed in the background. With skill upgrades, you get assistants as well, which means up to 5 bolts can be unscrewed at the same time.
If you think bolts are monotonous, wait until you 'll be patching holes in a Spitfire.
It amazed me how the number of bullet holes in the Spitfire didn't lead to more parts having to be replaced, instead of concentrating on rearming the machine guns each and every time. That bird was like Swiss cheese towards the end.
