How do you possibly play Online in this game ? I can not join my friend at all, or see him.

You just enter the same name, same cap, and it will connect you to the same match. If you have problems connecting try another name. If you've automatically been connected, you have to disconnect first.

If you pause there's is a menu tab called online. There you see a list of all people connected to your session. If you want to disconnect, press the disconnect button, then enter a name in the session input field.
