Unfortunately, your first slot (first 2 for story chars) is locked to that class. The remaining are free to do with as you please. You can unlock more unique evilities by fully mastering a class, and then buying it from the Skill Shop as usual.
Unique skills are always locked to that class, unfortunately.
I would've liked to change my LD nuker to a mage or magic knight, since I got really tired of looking at my 2 sages (1 for multi-attacker, 1 for LD) and hearing their voiced lines every single item world floor.
Side note as a further justification not to get D6.
One of the things left on the cutting room floor in D6 was weapon skills, so all you have are class-specific skills and magic, with magic being the only thing you can carry over if you change class. There's also no subclassing until you master whatever class that character is (for generics), so mixing and matching evilities is a chore.
And are Staffs the king in D5 as well ? I hear you can nuke entire zones with spells ?
The "optimal" way of clearing Item World in the late post game is a 5-man squad of:
!) Sage for Land Decimator spam
2) Sage for using Multi-Attacker on the other Sage
3) Christo to stand next to your attacking Sage for his 2nd unique evilities
4) Anyone with the Professor unique evility that doubles stat buff effects
5) Maid to use Afternoon Tea in case enemies somehow survive the first onslaught
Give the Sage evilities to buff their ATK Adj
Give the other characters the Angel unique that ups damage of adjacent allies, the Flora Beast evility that reduces SP cost for adjacent allies, Softening Aura from the Saber Cat class (negates damage from allies).
Have the 4 support characters stand on all panels adjacent to the base panel
Bring out your Land Decimator Sage
Buff her up with Magic Boost and Multi-Attacker
Land Decimator x3
If enemies are somehow still alive, Afternoon Tea
Land Decimator x3
If somehow that doesn't kill everyone, at even 20mil stats you can make Sicily essentially unkillable unless she gets dogpiled by several enemies with 99,999,999 stats.
Of course, there are other ways such as having 5 R40-3 weapons to use Comet Disaster every turn, but that requires kitting out 5 characters and doesn't sound really any more efficient to me.
Yes. You can use weapon skills just as fine, but the flexibility of magic being able to hit elemental weaknesses generally leads to higher damage.
Yes. Most, if not all, field-wide effects stacks. Just hover over someone who would be affected by it and hold X (for an Xbox controller) or Square (for a PS4 controller). It should say the percentage on it.
As far as I understood, one should also start boosting a monster for magichange as its extra stats that go on top of stat caps once the caps are reached + extra evilities ?
So one could have 2 magichanges ? 1 monster for stats and 1 to get some evilities in sub-weapon slot ?
Field-wide attack is just too useful to ignore.
Despite there being so many combos, one leans away from them because it just takes too much time to set them up :/
And at what lvl the sage gets the Land Decimator ?
