NIS Americas viewpoint on piracy
NIS America´s Reality: Let´pull the demo which we ourselves ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and keep delaying this game further and further, so that more people will buy it, since it wont be easy to crack it.

Reality: More and more people will find the cracked old demo with the unlock for the rest of the game, because it gets delayed that much.

Go on and dig your own grave NIS. Just keep doing what you´re doing and you´ll be gone for good.

I played the D3 demo once that was most likely the last demo I played. Demos seem mostly pointless, I would rather have a video showing game play and the game designers focus on coding.

Video showing game play could be done by some tester. Kinda sorry for being off topic lets look for question marks in the opening comment. Oh no questions. I guess my off topic statements are as good as your off topic statements.

Except in this case the "demo" is the entire game, 100% of it

I also feel the exact opposite. I'm more likely to try a demo, then buy the game. Than pay for a game I haven't tried. So I tend to wait for games to become very cheap before I buy them, so when I do get disappointed, I don't feel like I have wasted €50. If every game had demos, I'd spend a hell of a lot more on games/gaming. Demos are NOT pointless. Trailers are. Trailers are all BS "WOO LOOK AT WHAT WE DID" which ends up being completely misleading. Demos let you get a feel what what is ACTUALLY going on.

You could also look up a stream or gameplay video these days, no need to rely on trailers.
Those give you a pretty good idea, you can see the good with the bad.

There is no game that can't be cracked. Heck, there is a very good chance that by the time this releases, you can play the emulated Switch version. I am just amazed in just three months of development, the emulator can already play a few games well. I doubt the game was postponed due to cracking security, there must have been another major issue. Maybe the game itself had a security flaw that hackers could use to access your computer. Who knows? NIS does... but they aren't telling.

what "security"? This game has none
It only has generic steam DRM, which means you can pop any generic anti-steam-DRM, which is never game specific, into the folder and donezo
also lmao @ "security flaw to access your PC"
Please refrain from making analogies that make no sense

Yes, the Switch emulator is moving very rapidly! You can already play Disgaea 5 on it, albeit with a crappy framerate. Now it's just a question of who is quicker: the emulator makers or NIS? Only time will tell.

I haven't seen a demo flub like this since Keio Flying Squadron, where they locked off level but accidentally left in the level select (oops).

I have to disagree with you Kuro. Sadly its none of the above. Disgaia is NIS's flagship franchise, they truly just want to put out the best possible version of the game. NIS is not going to go to great lengths to prevent piracy. They will take some measures, but nothing out of the ordinary. NIS caters to a niche loyal fanbase. They are confident and trust this fanbase to not care enough to pirate their games. Further more NIS is not in any financial hardships. For the most part they simply act as a publisher for other studios such as idea factory and take very few risks in business. Sure they are not hitting any major homeruns, but they are also not striking out either. You can speculate all you want but there is just not enough evidence to support your claims.

citation needed because if that were the case they'd not have 3 year old wrong translations or ridiculous audio bugs in the 3-days-before-release demo
don't expect these to be fixed at all lul

Beats me why so many people are expecting the game to be "the best it can be" given NIS's track record and the reports from the demo. By all accounts it's just a straight up port of the Switch version, translation and all.

Agreed. Videos only let you SEE a game; demos/trials/betas let you PLAY the game. How could anyone argue that seeing a video is better than trying the product for yourself? Absolute nonsense.

I often look at a video of a game and think "meh". Then if I eventually try the game, I often end up liking it despite thinking it looks like sh!t in the video.

I agree. Gameplay is always more helpful to me to form my own opinion. However i've talked to people who can't gain much without feedback from someone.
It was as easy as releasing a portion of the game instead of the whole package with some lame paywall that was easily circumvented. And no, this won't justify the inclusion of Cancer like Denuvo, etc... This happened because they are incompetent. MUH EVUL PIRATES!!! This comes from someone who strongly believes that EA is the embodiment of SATAN.
