I'm of the opinion that the controversy and uproar is disproportionate to how big of an impact the absence of these features is going to have on most people's enjoyment of the game. Then again, I tend to look at concrete effects rather than base my views and opinions on principles.
Especially damaging is that a lot of people who would enjoy this game are probably turned off by the review-bombed Mixed rating in the store because they think the game is actually not good, which it is.
The bottom line is that people basically abused the review system to attack the company itself instead of reviewing their game. A significant part of those reviews don't have anything to do with reviewing the game.
Yeah it's no problem to be deceived by the company, none at all. Also, zero impact? Custom made maps made things a lot easier in terms of farming.

its in essence the same exact thing.
Look at the other games. Disgaea 1 and 2 are just named PC even though they are actually complete.
This was at its core level a bait and switch tactic that companies use to mislead customers, instead of just being honest and upfront. I hate corporate bs.
I was thinking about making a similar topic, but I didn't. So I'll use yours and copy what I had written.

I am not sticking up for NIS here, what they did was shady at best but I had disgaea 5 on Ps4 and to be honest, I loved the base game but there was so much DLC that I lost interest. The "complete" version on the PC is great to get all the content in one easy bundle.
So they missed out a few network things, again, I'm not going to praise them for that, it's a poor move, but here's the thing...
At least PC got the game! So many publishers these days lose interest in localising games for the west, or porting them over or whatever because of backlash. It doesn't help us as gamers. It just doesn't.
We've got a few Japanese developers that don't want to bring over their titles because of the whiney SJW's who get offended by skimpy armour. We got publishers like EA, Bethesda and Activision putting stuff on their own platforms to not have to deal with the whiny steam community. Same for Ubisoft though they still currently use steam.
If someone doesn't like the game, absolutely fair enough, negative away...but those of you who are "fans" (apparently) see it a good idea to push the very thing you're a fan of away.
For a third time, it was a bad move of NIS, but is the title that gives hundreds of hours of content really deserving of so many negative reviews?
@Some taters - you say we should hold a company to a standard. We do. This IS the standard. EVERY software company behaves this way or worse. There are balance issues to address, features missing, features broken, ect. Day one patches anyone? I havent seen a game released that did not have a software update that came with it the DAY OF launch.
Whatever standard you are talking about is a thing of fantasy and you are more likely to witness a unicorn ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a donkey than see whatever standard you are expecting.
It's a perfect example of people so desperate to be "savvy" customers and fight back against the MAN that they are making up excuses to do it.
disgaea 6 is already in the making, they confirmed that. PC is not even the target platform. If anything we might not get a pc port, but i'd imagine sale numbers speak in favor of D5 compared to the development cost. Im also sure that they absolutely know that the way nisa handlet the steam release was the main reason why so many negative reviews are on the platform.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this is what the standard is for ports? I almost feel sorry for you. If the devs don't provide a quality product, or if they do anything shady (like wait until after release to break the news - which they did) then I don't buy it. If you want to be a fan boy, great, but don't think that releases like this are an acceptable standard.
