Is it just me or gun class is so weak?
Is it just me or gun atk Characters like seraphina, salvatore, nisa are a bit weaker? My melee attacker Priore and Mage did like 2-3x bigger damage than the gun

Their unique evilities also play a part in how powerfum some character and classes are.

But anyway, the point is that guns use the HIT stat, so boost that.

Guns use hit and speed, so can do either. I like to give my bow user the cleric evility that makes bow damage based off RES and slap an orb on them during the main story. It's kinda busted because it gives a ton more dmg than a belt, makes them tankier, gives them lots of sp, and ups their healing if you give them a heal spell.

For weak classes, make strong weapons. Here's what I do, it's round about but can be fun: Go into Item world on the best weapon for them you can grind in, push that baby as high as you like. Then give it to the character in question, and then repeat with another weapon until THAT one is stronger, switch weapon, repeat. You will end up not only with two strong weapons, but a strong character as well.

Another thing to consider is that while guns have a long range, the damage is reduced if you're further away. The pirate evility that ups damage based on distance can compensate for that.

Just checking - you realise the damage hey do is based on HIT and SPD, not ATK. So eveen if it is good, make it better

Greetings! I have a question related to this topic actually.
The Hit Stat is more focused in this game with guns and bows than any other I've played. All well and good. My question is, If Gun Damage is based on Hit then, what stat defends against it, so it won't do as much damage? I'm guessing Spd? I know in the old PS2 days of Disgaea 2, A formula finding the average between Spd and Def. was the of determining it. I'm not sure about here. Out of curiosity, any ideas or your thoughts?

Defense - resistance against all normal and most special attacks (also like 30% (?) from magical attacks)
Resistance - 70% of it give magical defenses
Speed - increases the chance that an enemy will miss you

so if you don't want to get hit, go for speed. As guns are specialised in "Hit" status, which makes accurate as hell.... you want to go for defense instead. Guns lack damage, compared to other weapons, as they lose out damage the further enemies are away...

I didn't know that Gun Damage is calculated on range in this game, that's interesting! I do know there our exceptions to that by the Pirates ability?!
Luckily, I figured that Speed had alot to do with it. Luckily, I invested alot of it in all my characters. The Armor Gals being the lowest but, not entirely the slowest. They have alot of Defense and Resistance to compensate. Thank you for the input!

Since glasses raise your INT/HIT and boots raise SPD/MV, boots are generally better for gunners.
It'll give you a similar damage boost, and increase your evade due to speed. MV is also SUPER important. Adding HIT for accuracy wouldn't really add to it anyways, considering bows/guns get so much anyway.

Guns are great for the item world since their long range lets you pick off enemies without wasting your casters' SP.

Wait, do you have an actual source for this? I'm pretty sure I remember it being a thing in Disgaea 2 but not anywhere else.

Guns are great because of the high HIT too. You can stack HIT without losing damage so you end up being able to have 99% accuracy against extremely evasive mobs that no one else can land a blow on.
