LOL this does work! Only thing that sucks is normal Liezerota has no attack animations (makes sense though) but otherwise, the save data here works and the editor does too!

I was expecting a way to customize common characters beyond color.....

Oh lol we did this way back with the demo in June. There's a bunch of bugs and possible freezes and crashes associated with this depending on who you use where. Chara world is a prime cause for crashes for example.
Adding Baal for example is a bad idea. Regular Lieze is not gonna work in battle and Usalia's mom just doesn't have any really workable sprites at all sadly

Is there a way to replace existing sprites? Like the second tier of Warrior for example, is it just a recolor of the first or is it stored seperately? I can imagine some possibilities if it was the latter.

This is just cheat engine stuff. It's not an actual mod. Stuff like that has to change the actual files in the game.
