What was removed was the ability to make and share your own maps.
I find it personally just extremely ridiculous that they didn't implement this because it wouldn't be that hard to have a bloody PC connect to a server somewhere.
As for mods, they were possible with the old demo (that we patched into the full game), so far i've seen reports that indicate that they changed the file encryption and compression, will renders all our tools useless and I am not gonna bother to acknowledge this new version since absolutely nothing improved since the demo from May
• Ability to see other people's play stats
• Ability to upload / share / play / create online custom maps at all. You can't even make your own locally.
• Ability for other user's stuff to appear in the news ticker. I honestly never noticed this feature in the PS4 or Switch versions
• Ability to send items to other players
If all you wanted was the single player + post game experience this will do you fine. Personally I never used the custom maps at all - but it's really kind of crappy of NISA to just not include online features and never tell anyone.
