So.. What Actually Happened?
Theres seems to be a lot of different stories on what happened. Some say they found game breaking bugs later on in the game, others are saying the delay is so they can implement anti piracy software after the demo got hacked? so whats up!?

I've seen reports that the PC Demo was about the same file size as the Console downloads of the full game, 6.3 GB, instead of the Console Demo size, about 1000 MB. Also that file edits could supposedly remove any Demo limitations, allowing you to play the full game, because that 6GB means the full game is there.

This is one valid theory for why they revoked the beta: To try and prevent pirate-y folks from getting the game for free from the demo.

My guess: There are several reasons that came together to make NISA delay the game and revoke the demo. The pirate bit may or may not be one of them.
After a quick google search, seems the devs pulled it before pirates could get to it. Well almost there was one claim of it being the full game but it was on a questionable site, considering they also offered a cracked version of a free to play game.

The game is actually fully cracked now sooo uuhh, yyeeeaaaaa. . .

start to finish? i thought it was just the demo, which is only 3 chapters.

So much mis-info here

The game has two roadblocks and also a few ways you can get stuff not supposed to be in the demo

1) The game is the full game, with 2 minor exceptions: a demo screen baked into the .exe that triggers if a specific flag is set
2) the flag table that handles unlocks and story and everything else is cannibalized and cut down so much that no amount of save editing can make those things work.
3) To fix the flag table would be a herculean task of trial and error and reverse engineering. Nobody is gonna bother with that

However:
1) You can temporarily catapult yourself into CH4 and get the CH4 stuff unlocked and then edit yourself back into CH3 and keep all the unlocked stuff.
2) You can hex edit the save so the Chara World and Nether Research becomes available
3) You can also hex edit the curry shop there, but you will be missing the curry squad, which makes the curry shop pointless
4) You can unlock the maps, without story or events, for Chapter 4, 5 and 6 permanently no matter what chapter you are in. (This includes challenge and quest stages for all those maps)
5) you can edit in any existing quest, no matter what chapter, and set them to complete (recent addition)

As for why they pulled the demo, no clue, the cannibalized flagDB makes sure we can't actually use this as the full game.
Well somebody did it, I won't say who, but it's up on a few sites now.

@kuugenthefox do you know if the save games from the demo will carry over to the full game?

NISA said it would.

Actually they're at ch 6-7 right now but it doesn't seem like they can get past that (or it doesn't seem possible) and there is no sotry progression either but if you want a quick fix it's out there

Mostly speculation. The ONLY official info we have is this - http://www.nisamerica.com/blog/disgaea-5-complete-steam-delay-announcement-0

That said, there have been reports that for some people the game eats RAM (I've seen 10GB thrown around). My guess is that's the issue, because companies don't very well want to overheat people's computers.

Oh no my computer is overheating because I don't have enough RAM! Quick download more RAM to avoid overheating!
