I'm stuck, can anyone help me?

I'm actually refering to a guide and still stuck.. Here is the part i'm stuck at -

In the walkthrough it says I should be able to grab the cord, but I always get the prompt to 'untie it first' but I have no idea how to do that...

Anyone know what to do?? Any help would be appreciated!

I do remember something misleading about this bit or the language used. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact solution.

I think you've gotta use the bottom plug (hand icon) on the top plug, which is a slightly inconsistent UI interaction.

I tried that but he says "I can't reach that from here" even with the box underneath the plug.. Its almost like I have the box placed in the wrong position or something but I've tried moving it around over and over and nothing works.... Is there anyway I can untie the plug? I've tried kicking it, trying to reach it with the pipe, and almost everything I can think of.. And the walkthrough I'm referencing makes no mention of having to do any of that, it just says you should be able to reach the plug.... So maybe my game is bugged? Idk... But it sucks I can't go further in the story now

EDIT: Just as I was typing this I thought "maybe I should go on the box and try plugging in the bottom one into the top like xlynx said" and it worked! So yeah, you have to be on the box and then use the hand icon on the bottom plug and plug it into the top plug.. Problem solved! Thanks Lynx!

haha, good you figured it out.
i remember I was stuck on that part too for a while. Had attached the extension to the other half of the cord on the ground. Then kept trying to throw it up through the gap, since that would really just work in real life.. if you tried it enough times (it's not like the gap is so high up).
So, took a break from the game for awhile.. and then the idea to plug the extension part of the cord to the conduit & let it hang down popped into the head. Went back to the back & it worked!
The puzzles in this game are good. For the most part they're logical enough,

This particular puzzle is an absolutely terrible design. Not only does it use this inconsistent hotspot->verb->hotspot interaction, but like Ocean Grown says, you have to be standing on the box. Logically or even ideally, you should be able to start this puzzle without being on the box, since then you're in reach of the first hotspot.

Just kick a couple of times the pipe that has stucked in gears in previous room, then use the pipe on the hitch of the ladder. You also have to pick up a cablle extender on the second floor.

Kick the metal pipe stuck twixt the gears, then pick the pipe up. Go hit the ladder with the pipe to bring it within reach. Climb up the ladder and plug the cable exention in. Now use cable extension with the hole on the left part of the platform. The cable should now hang through the hole. Take the box and move it to the left right under the hole in the platform. While standing on the box, use the plug on the floor with the plug above you that's hanging through the hole. And go back up the ladder now and hit the switch. Viola, you're done =.))
