Devs!! Give me my saved files back!!
this game is making me so crazy because of missing saved files.
when i quit the game and come back and load the saved files, there aren't what i saved recently.
it seems that old saved files come out.

running on configure section(save and run) doesn't work for me.
when i run by this, there's even nothing to load.

where are my recent saved files?? where are they??

i can't enjoy this game anymore if saving problem won't be solved.
so devs and anyone who knows about this, plz help me...

I don't think this is a known problem, but I can try to help diagnose the issue. On Windows at least, this game engine usually saves to one of these paths:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\My Documents\My Saved Games\
C:\Users\Your Username\Saved Games
C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\My Saved Games

Things to check:
  • Some people have experienced issues with folders permissions. Try running the game with administrator privileges, or make sure you can write to the above paths.
  • Are you using any non-latin characters in your username or system paths? The game engine may interpret these incorrectly which could theoretically misdirect the path.
  • Try searching your entire computer for Gemini Rue or agssave and see where the saves show up.

i have c:\users\administrator\saved games folder. and there's the gemini rue folder.
but there's no saved files.
i'm using the korean character in folder's name at users and saved games.
so i changed the "saved games" into english.
but i can't change "users" into english. it seems that this has to be default name that can't be changed.

so i think this is the problem.
like you said, it seems that the game engine can't get through the korean character in folder name.

but i have some other wadjeteye's games like blackwell series. and their saving is fine.
why does gemini rue cause the problem..

anyway thank you for the sincere answer.

Hm, these two things seem to contradict, but it's possible there is a bug in only the version being used by Gemini Rue, out of the games you've tried.

I am trying to think of a workaround / method to confirm if this is the issue. One thing you can do is to MOVE (not copy) the save games folder to more generic location. Moving this folder automatically updates the Windows registry so that apps can find the new location.

Uhm, same here. I bought it today, played like two hours, saved using two different files, then when I came back later to the game there was only one file: autosave. And not even that one worked, since if I tried to load it it said "unable to load game (error: file not found)" :(

I'm on Win 7, and there is a save file in:
c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Gemini Rue\Saves\
called "agssave.999" (whose date is actually related to the last time I opened Gemini Rue, not to when I last saved it).

Please help. The game looks awesome, but this way it's unplayable.

They magically reappeared! Last night I decided to start again, and see if this happened once more. As soon as I started I saved, then went to the "c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Gemini Rue\" folder. In there, a new folder magically appeared, which I'm sure was not present before, "reslists". I checked inside and there were my previous save games. I moved them to the correct Saves folder and then I was able to reload from my initial game. Weird but nice :)

good for you.
but it doesn't work for me.
in my relists folder, there aren't the save files that i'm looking for.

i'll just restart all over again.
this time i'll use the config section(save&run).

I found a strange thing happening with saves. If you launch the game (instead of setup) you'll have one place for saved games.
If you run setup first and launch the game from there (there'll be an option "save and run game") then a game will change saved game files location and write saves to another folder. (I didn't figure out what folders are used exactly)
So the game (launched not from setup) will not be able to load your saves if your previous saves were from the game launched from setup. And vice versa

These are two folders:
1. C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Gemini Rue
2. %Steam%\SteamApps\common\Gemini Rue\Saves

Same thing happened for me. Saves in reslists not recognized in-game until moving them to the correct folder.

Thanks.

Yeah..even though I was able to recover my saved files that one time, after taking a break and coming back to the game, I lost my progress completely.

Just old saves. Shouldn't have developed the game with AGS if AGS has these kinds of problems.

AGS is actually the best option for adventure games, unfortunately.

Thank you, you saved my day.
That's very odd, but it is exactly what happened to me

Had the exact same problem. Missing saves. But when I launch the game from the setup with save&run it finds the right saves!

:steamhappy:Thank you so much!

I had the same problem. But when I tried to launch the save files I recovered, the game said it couldn't because those saves were from a game "with different colour depth"!!! What the heck!
