Serial number doesn't match photo?

When you can enhance that photo, the number shown is not what's been stored in the communicator or am I missing something?

I didn't notice it until I read this post, but it doesn't match for me either in my save files. There is also at least one other person on the internet who's had this discrepancy.

It's clearly the "correct" serial number though, because it leads you to the correct people. My guess is that this was unintentional.
