Ports and Water Treatment facilities placement question
Hey guys,

how do you cope with placement of ship ports and water pumps? They need to be very close to water but water levels are rising just slowly. Which means i need to have constant eye on them and rebuild them. (stage 4-5 of terraform)

From my experience, pretty much, yeah.

I've been trying to consider ways around this, but there really isn't. After a certain point however, assuming you don't aerobrake or import more ice (water) to Mars, you start to stabilize. After that point, it tends to sit still.

I have noticed in my experience, having Water Treatment Plants do in fact adjust water levels over time, so depending on how many facilities you have operating, it might slow down, stop, or even retract water levels.

I don't play with Blue so not sure about ports.

For water treatment plants I tend to place them next to sheer cliffs if possible that way they're on high ground but adjacent to areas with water. This generally means that I don't have to move them.

they have to rethink the concept of flood plain and call a sea zone. I live on a flood plain and the last time i had to worry about flooding was decades ago. :D I still at below zero and I have raising water. I move my ports and treatment centers so many times, I just destroyed everything on the plains till the levels are done raising.

you also cannot upgrade the building to floating after the water comes in. They workers should be planning that it going to be underwater.

if you don't import water, neither pulling in icy asteroids, the water will only rise to 500-520m which translates to -2.7--2.8 km in elevation. you can press tab key to see the elevation at the cursor. hope this can help you planning...
my experience is to use hella mare for the initial water treatment source, and wait at least water came to around 500m to start building shore buildings at the northern shorelines... if you do uncontrollable flood thingy, only area above 0m is safe, fyi.
