could the be engaged in other projects like nitrogen
You can make multiple elevators? I'm not seeing any option to do so. I'm just seeing an option to add more carbon nanotubes to my existing elevator.
Nitrogen uses Spaceports, not Space Elevators.
Also, I have absolutely no other projects running right now[i.imgur.com]. All of my Spaceports are empty. But I've anchored five Carbon Nanotubes to my Space Elevator and it's not expanding its ability to run multiple projects concurrently[i.imgur.com].
the answer is, you've not built a space elevator yet, you need to do all 12 tubes to be able to place ONE elevator. it depolyes similiarly from the bottom of the screen like the lander
Once you've completed all 12, you'll be given a special icon (in the bottom middle of the screen -- same place the "New Landing Site" button appears, when you have on of those) to allow you to place the ground terminus of the space elevator.
Once that is placed you will be able to start the end-game special projects that require the use of a space elevator (and only these missions -- it can't be used for the other missions).
You can repeat the space elevator mission as many times as you wish, getting a new space elevator to place for every 12 such missions that you complete, and each completed space elevator can be used to launch additional end game special missions.
Note that the end game special missions themselves must be completed multiple times before they complete themselves, so you'll have plenty of time to setup additional space elevators while waiting for the end game special missions to complete.
She, and yes, that's what it ended up being. I had already completed the first elevator and didn't realize that the projects were for building a second space elevator. I thought they were to expand the "project capacity" of my first elevator. I wasn't even aware you could build more than one.
Thanks!
