Great thanks!
So many people have the same issue because right-click doesn't make selected units to attack/move like it does in all other strategy games, and instead it simply closes the combat lens...
(I'm the guy who played for 20 hours entirely sure that assault drones cannot be controlled directly, and that it was intended)
I mean there are tons of strategy games that use left click = command and right click = deselect, too. That alone is not counterintuitive at all. It literally takes two clicks to test out both alternatives and see it working.
Selecting by clicking on the numbers was intuitive for me, but I can see people tripping up on that when they are not used to controlling swarms.
I mean in some cases its not intuitive like in this game. I did try clicking around and I did look on the combat screen where there were no signs you could attack and no command buttons.
Even the hive buildings are described as 'defensive towers', there is very little to suggest or indicate you can attack with the drones and move them yourself.
Not really sure what the issue is with people asking for help on a discussion forum, bit of a weird thing to take issue with.
I think the issue wasnt you asking, which is a completely sensible thing to do, because sometimes you get stuck on simple concepts. Happens to everyone once in a while. The issue is that Eliot presented it like it´s the game fault for not telling you something which most people can figure out quite well, implying that EVERYONE needs handholding. The game has a lot of issues, but this isn´t one of them I think.
So I think the heat wasnt directed at you.
I want to note that I also did not immediately understand how to manage them. You have made very inconvenient management. Also, after many hours, I finally figured out how to combine combat drones into groups, although in other strategies it is intuitive and determined in seconds. Sadness.
If people didn't go to the forums to ask, I wouldn't have known the answer. I looked through the tech tree and there was no mention of attack options, everything mentioned defence. I wish I'd realised earlier the drones could be moved, so I could have saved a few of my buildings.
If anyone is wondering: You have to hold shift when left clicking to give the order, hold the mouse button and then you can decide how many drones you send with a slider.
The controls are not explained in the game. Period.
Yeah those ones are not explained at all. To explain what I said in more detail: Select the swarm you want to divide. Then hold shift and while holding shift left click somewhere else on the map and hold the click. Then the slider appears and you can move you mouse left to lower the number. The number that is shown is the drones that will actually move, while the rest will stay. This worked consistently for me but it is not explained at all.
