Edit: I just watched Skye Storm and the mission finished when you destroy all buildings.
Am I supposed to destroy the aliens to advance the story? I can build all around the enemy to keep them trapped in and just keep advancing.
Regardless, with this "Children of Carmine" issue I tried being passive at first and sticking strictly to defensive tactics and would only ward off the aggression instead of seeking them out and obliterating them quickly. The problem with that approach is that they'll always continue to come back and resources aren't unlimited...and the longer you wait, the bigger their base gets (unless there's a cap on that, not sure). Thankfully, they're quite weak, so even just the standard attack drones without any of the upgrades can take care of them quite easily...it becomes more of a distraction than anything...which is what ultimately motivated me to cave and slaughter them lol.
Either way, I won't get into any spoilers or anything...but for those that are trying to claim the "moral high ground" on this issue and don't want to attack, keep in mind that protecting the humans and making sure the mission stays on track are your main focus. Not saving the lives of hostile entities ;-)
