Hostile Force in SA-1
I recently got to the point of the game where the drones attack and you’re given the option to retaliate. I spent several years building up, seeing as how I am a peace loving AI who doesn’t want to hurt anyone. I look around the entirety of SA-1 and there’s nothing there. Even the combat tab says 0 for everything. Are they hiding somewhere? It may be important to mention that sea levels have risen so maybe they lost because they’re now underwater?

Did you launch the satellite to scan and unlock the area? I don't think I had water level raised at this point so maybe you sunk them lol.

If you have completed the special project to unlock the area, then it sounds like you've both ran into a pretty serious bug! I'm really sorry about that. We'd like to look into this a bit more to get to the bottom of it. Could you please fill out a report over here[rawfury.atlassian.net] and attach your save game and log (if possible)?

I have cleared all the enemies from SA-1 and the chart to the right of the screen concurs with me but the directive is still there on screen. Do I have to destroy all of their buildings too?

Edit: I just watched Skye Storm and the mission finished when you destroy all buildings.

In my playthrough, the hostile force in SA-1 were gradually being flooded with seawater and then eventually disappeared. Not really complaining about that since it saved me time but it was quite interesting to see how they immediately just disappeared off the face of the planet lol

I also submitted a save file with the exact same problem.

I wanted to be passive against the aliens, after all, Houston says not to attack. I figured that if the aliens die from being submerged underwater, that's a great passive way of completing the objective. But if this borks it...

Am I supposed to destroy the aliens to advance the story? I can build all around the enemy to keep them trapped in and just keep advancing.

Yeah you have to destroy them despite orders not to. I took out their power as a half measure. Destroying them seemed quite final. Broke my campaign i guess. I refuse to play as an aggressive AI though so i guess I'll wait until they patch it.

For my first play-through I destroyed them and their base...I'm pretty sure there isn't a way around it to be honest. I'm doing my second start now because I screwed things up in a major way mid-game (not relating to this lol way beyond it) and figured I could do much better with restarting instead of loading an old save. Sometimes it's worth it to just restart, ya know? Plus, you learn things along the way and think of better approaches for things. That's one thing that this game has going for it, in general...variety of options and strategies which is major for replayability :)

Regardless, with this "Children of Carmine" issue I tried being passive at first and sticking strictly to defensive tactics and would only ward off the aggression instead of seeking them out and obliterating them quickly. The problem with that approach is that they'll always continue to come back and resources aren't unlimited...and the longer you wait, the bigger their base gets (unless there's a cap on that, not sure). Thankfully, they're quite weak, so even just the standard attack drones without any of the upgrades can take care of them quite easily...it becomes more of a distraction than anything...which is what ultimately motivated me to cave and slaughter them lol.

Either way, I won't get into any spoilers or anything...but for those that are trying to claim the "moral high ground" on this issue and don't want to attack, keep in mind that protecting the humans and making sure the mission stays on track are your main focus. Not saving the lives of hostile entities ;-)
