Resources running out
Not sure if other folks are experiencing this, but I seem to run out of resources in my mine about midway through sandbox games. How do I combat this? I am expanding outward but am not finding the stuff I need at a fast enough rate.

Might be a super noob question but how is that even possible? I mean it's not like the game has any real upkeep costs. buildings give you a 100% refund. The worst you can do is to convert all your basic resources into advanced resources. just keep on top of your scanners once one is scanning super far move it to the periphery of your base

There is a cost. Maintenance of pretty much everything. No raw basics, no, parts, no electronics, no polymers etc. etc.

There is a cost for everything. Polymers and water especially become important later in the game.

I made it as far as researching the hyperloop. But, before that, is there any way to move resources between bases?

Did you have local storage centers in your bases with sets minimum to keep at all time ?
Were your bases connected together ?

No, I had 2 bases. Also very annoying since it doesn't show resources or power for them individually. Seems on my next playthrough, I should avoid making a second base until I have hyperloop?

To be fair I think the level of resources from individual deposits can be unhelpfully low, especially with the RNG distribution of resource nodes. Can't help feeling that resource node availability, or lack thereof, can all too easily create a soft-lock on a play through.

When you plan out your second base in a new sector, when the sector is unlocked you can build your network of worker hubs to the point where you want to install your second base.

When i unlocked sector 9, i built the landing zone, shut it down and worked my way to it from the first base with Worker hubs / Solar stations and Maintenance hubs along the way. After, i manage to make scanners on that path to scan the sourrounding to have more resource nodes to grab.

@DarkFire

That's why scanning and planning you first building are important. My first carbon deposit was only 250 and it took me 2 hours to get another one, to the point i had no steel left in my base...

Jesus christ i think i dodged a bad luck bullet in my game from some of these stories still enjoying the game but yeah there are some issues that need to be fixed or tuned in this regard
You're just ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Restart or lose. :)

haaaah i'm three hours in my game and i'm out of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ silicon. THERE IS NONE AT ALL IN MY SECTOR

I've become softlocked. Again.
Isn't it fun?

Good thing you're over your 2 hour refund limit.

You might want to get your money back after being ripped off on an unfinished game.

I'm so sorry to hear that you keep experiencing these troubles. Thank you everyone here for providing feedback and sharing your experiences. We've been able to identify several problems with how resources are spawning. We're working on a fix to alleviate some of this frustration by making sure a proper amount spawn so that players do not spend their entire game searching for crucial, yet missing, resource veins. We think we've found a way to fix these issues and we should have a hotfix out tomorrow!

Did you ever fix this? Because I have Zero Iron

I think mines need to have very low output when they are out of the resource. I think something like 4x or 5x normal time to produce 1 unit seems fair. Yes; that would make them provide unlimited but inefficient resources.
