Known issues:

If you can't start the game, here are the following solutions:
1. Update Windows and make sure C++ redists are properly installed.
2. Make sure your Anti-virus software excludes Steam folder before downloading and during game installation.

How can you get the Director's Cut Patch through Backerkit to work? After I applied it, I got an error stating 'Muv Luv has failed to start (error code 86). Does this mean we have to buy the Directors's Cut version from Denpasoft, despite being backers? If so that's a bit of a kick in the face to everyone that supported it from the get-go...

The Director's Cut patch does the same thing from Denpasoft as well. I also got (Error Code 86).

I bought an aldult patch from Denpasoft but it failed to start. It always says 'Muv-Luv needs to be installed and initialized (run once) '. In fact, I did install the game and play it. I feel so confused.

1) As far as I know, Unlimited should only become available after clearing both Sumika and Meiya's routes in Extra. However, I was able to access Unlimited long before this point. I randomly tested to see if I could start Unlimited after only completing Sumika and Miki's Extra routes, and yes, I could select it and start playing it at that point. This seemed kind of... odd.

Please note: I got the Unlimited (Ready for Unlimited) Steam achievement at the right point - just after completing Meiya's Extra route, which I had left until last.

2) Trading cards do not appear to be available - do I have to complete the whole game to get them? (This would seem rather unusual.)

In case it's relevant, these are my system specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Core i3-2100 3.10GHz
4 GB RAM
64-bit OS
nVIDIA GeForce 405

Katja, in the original game, you had to complete both of the main routes to unlock Unlimited. In the Steam release, Unlimited is unlocked from the beginning.

Trading cards and such will be forthcoming for this new release (they had them for the previous one), but they are not currently activated yet.

I playing this game for few hours. And then something went wrong and overlay dont working anymore. I tried everything, restart windows, reinstal game, admin rights etc.

I have the same problem. I had the same problem with the original release, and nothing happened then. Hopefully it gets fixed this time around.

Edit: It is good to hear they are fixing the patch, but it's not clear if that's this problem or the 'game doesn't start anymore' problem.

Hi, first of all, thank you for the great game! Espesially for Meiya`s routes) As for the typos: I`ve cleared the game by 100%, and that`s what I noticed. As you can see, in both cases sentences lack in space after the dot or the comma.

Same thing's happening with mine, although mine is a fresh install. It used to work with the previous release.

I was able to figure out how to fix this (no thanks to the incompetent devs' complete inability to provide customer support). Here's what worked for me:

1) Shut down Steam
2) Run Steam itself as an administrator
3) Start up Muv-Luv
4) Click into one of the games for a few lines
5) Quit the game
6) Install the patch

It should work now. Don't forget follow-up step # 7:

7) Restart Steam, running normally (don't run things as administrator if you don't need to).

I bought the director's cut version from Denpasoft. Installed the game. Ran the game in Chinese version once and English version once. Installed the patch. Ran the game again. Now I selected language as Chinese in Steam page but the game opens in English no matter I entered via steam or desktop shortcut. Restart windows and steam and the game still can only open in English. My questions are: Does the director's cut version work for Chinese version? Can I ever open the game in Chinese again?

Uninstall the game, and install it again. My suspicion is that the script in the patch is only available in English. The game's script has to be included (the new scenes have text, after all).

I don't think the patch content was translated into Chinese, because I don't remember hearing about that, and because the installer didn't prompt me to pick a language.

Consequently, I would guess, installing the patch has the effect of uninstalling Chinese language. You can probably get it back by uninstalling/reinstalling.
