Author of that Unofficial Patch here. First, make sure you download the correct .zip from the four ones available: if you're using any version of Windows, you'll need one of the Windows .zip files, while if you're running the game on a Mac or a Linux box, you'll need one of the Unix .zip files. If you own Migration DLC (the Tipping Point edition of Fate of the World includes it, otherwise you'll need to check by right-clicking on the game in your Steam Library, going to Properties, and selecting the DLC tab), you'll need one of the "regular" .zip files, otherwise you'll need one of the .zip files labelled as "without Migration". Perform a clean install, i.e. after uninstalling the game, delete any remaining files inside your "Steam\steamapps\common\Fate of the World" folder (your Steam folder's location will depend on what operating system you're using, but if you're using a version of Windows, it'll be inside either the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" folder on your main disk drive, usually C:). Reinstall the game, then unarchive the contents of your chosen .zip file directly into your "Steam\steamapps\common\Fate of the World" folder (how you do this depends on what archiving software you have installed, though you can often just open up the .zip file, select all the items inside, and drag-and-drop them into the desired folder).

Oh hey, since you are still around, can you tell us how you decompiled and recompiled the .luac files for your patch? My luadec just spills out garbage. I want to see if I can add values like gdppw_base, robots and robotspw to the telemetry.

I use unluac to disassemble the .luac files. Compilation used to be done easily with SciTe, but I've lately run into problems compiling back to .luac. IIRC, some .luac changes (e.g. changes to some of the stuff in Tools) cause the game to crash if you change them, and I have no idea why, so you need to be quite careful when you change anything in the modules archive.

Awesome, decompile works! Thanks. I will tinker a couple of days with the telemetry layout.
