Attacked By Protocol For Seemingly No Reason
Has anyone else experienced this? I'll be able to pass right by soldiers in Wyndham but then suddenly they begin shooting at me. I can leave and it somewhat resets their state but it'll happen here and there. I'm positive I didn't do anything to piss them off specifically, though it happened after I trespassed for a second in the middle of the village. It looks like a special area. Still, I left, and things were fine.

It will have been for the trespassing if any soldiers saw you, nothing you can do except reload a prior save and stay well clear of that area. It has happened to me, and a reload is the only cure. retaliate and all soldiers will be instantly hostile. On a side note you can kill the soldiers upstairs in the Grendels Head and nobody pays any attention, including any other soldiers, usually a good source for 2 high capacity pistols. They don't respawn.
Looks like I'm just completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm a handful of hours into the game and I don't feel like starting anew. I like the play-through I've had. I just can't leave the Captain's building or the entire city turns on me, even though all I probably did was step into a barely marked area and leave immediately. Hopefully there's a fix for this with any DLC.

Some games are just not for everyone. If you are only a few hours in yet already not wanting to keep playing it (I've managed five out of the six endings in my few hours) by starting again then maybe it is a sign.

The game gives consequences to your actions, but this includes taking note of your surroundings (like the no go areas you walked into. By the way there is a place to sneak in for a BARD crate that keeps you being in a trespass bit).

It goes hand in hand with the minimal direction given during missions. Leading to generally being able to play as you want, within reason.

I too didn't gel with this game initially, but it clicked and I kept going. The game is meant for replays (don't need to follow every lead, just the one you want) so learning by mistakes appears logical (like the trespass bit, also don't get seen breaking into the Interchange if it is a Trespass area like Wyndham (you can sneak in) as this can negatively effect you too.

Best of luck regardless o7

Do you really not have an autosave or previous save you can reload from before you stepped in there? If no unfortunately I don't know what you can do to fix it. I know which area you're talking about and I also turned them hostile when I was snooping around inside but I just kept reloading my save while trying to sneak in and steal whatever I could without getting caught.
the game is relatively short and small, just restart with new knowledge you wont lose much progress tbh

lmao. This is such a heavy-handed response. I'm playing the game well, but because I put one toe into this little area - and then immediately backed out - some guards never forgave me. I got "trespassing" at the top and they warned me to leave so I did. The problem is a handful of those guards are perpetually after me and trying to gun me down because I took a wrong turn.

I absolutely want to keep playing this game and even replay this game, but I don't want to sink hours into it only to have things ruined by a mistake on the game's end.

Yep, in "Trespass" areas you will immediately be hostile. By dint of trespassing.

The protocol in Wyndham will fire on you if your trespass into any restricted area or they catch you stealing or if they are firing at rats and in are in the same area.

Best solution is if you have one or two soldiers after you have them chase to the rat infested area. Rats are nasty and mean.
That's really bad. I hope it gets fixed. There's no warning that you're about to trespass and it should be fine if you turn around. Ideally they could just arrest you and bring you to the captain or give you a way out. Maybe take your stuff if you refuse to cooperate.

lol so out of topic i think you responded to the wrong post

btw, try reloading previous saves and seeing if it happens, or just restart the game again, either they caught you doing something in the village or could very well be a memory bug altering a single variable in the code. would be cool if devs spoke up if its a feature or a bug but so far i think its a bug.
ive been klling solders in skathermor because the stealth design there is gargabe and the village guards still neutral to me. i did have an issue where i carried the friendly token to the druids and the only ones that didnt attack me were the ones inside a certain cave, but in the real world they kept attacking me, could just be a wrong unit spawning sometimes
