JM-3
Just got a pristine JM-3, and as I suspected it's definitely the strongest rifle. Long range, very high damage and very fast (which was a problem until I mastered firing a single shot) and deadly accurate having the only scope in the game. Of course I have cheated with the ammo so had 999 rifle rounds in my inventory, and don't feel any shame for doing so, just as I didn't when using an lmg mag on my FN SLR when I was in the RAF, officers and nco's didn't seem to care either when they noticed

Too fast a rate of fire for me. Prefer the Falkirk personally since headshots work no matter the damage.

Also the LMG and Enfield are great too.

No need for cheats, but each to their own. Inifinite ammo is sort of turning it into a tourist mode.
The rate of fire is ferocious, but single shots are possible with practice. As for head shots the JM-3 is powerful enough that any body or head hit will kill, and when facing 3 ferals as is common in the interchange, head shots are just a pipe dream, you'll never get the time to aim. As for tourist mode, lmao at that :), I play games to relax not sit on the edge of my seat with tension.

I'm old, I never got tense playing this one. But as I mentioned, each to their own  I mean that without the limit on ammo an element of the games focus is removed. But being able to play how you want is nice.

Yep, I drop to shotty for the Ferals, or go nuts melee (though I never have gotten round to making a "melee build" from skills, so could be easier, other than the kick stun duration).

I like the fact you can pick what you like, not just min-max (and there are always small drawbacks, like JM needing a little more recoil control or controlled firing for single shots).

Pretty neat for a game not totally focused on the combat.
The best weapon for ferals, I've found is the farmers knife, it is faster than they are but you have to have them blocked by a doorway so only one can get at you, and one miss timed strike and its goodnight marie for you lol. No second chances, once you're hit and staggered you is dead :P.
I don't use guns for most situations preferring to sneak up from behind and take-downs, except for the castle with what seems like endless druids coming out of the walls and of course ferals and robots in the interchange. Combat isn't rewarded in any way in Atomfall, so better to avoid it where possible

Yeah, though the 2 handers are "fun" that farmer's knife can keep everything at bay (especially with the skilled kick), and I think maybe the Excalibur shard is identical but the model?

Getting trounced by a few ferals at once is definitely a struggle to control, especially if one is ranged and spitting. I often forget to use the damage resist and combat + which further increase your effectiveness; very much force you to "think ahead" (tips on death mention this. Those tips on death are specific and very useful overall).

I will have to focus on the JM more as so far only really used on first playthrough (and for some reason during this 3rd ending play I came across the LMG and Sten for first time, but now can't seem to find the Enfield rifle which had used before).

Never seen the enfield,as for the sten, the patrol at the casterfell entrance always has 1 and sometimes 2 carried by the soldiers, and they are an easy take-down as they walk in a spread single file. Took me several play throughs to find 4 to upgrade to pristine, not a common rifle for the soldiers

You can fire single shot if you want and full auto or burst is amazing for smashing the glass on the robots and putting them in the downed state.

Downed, the 2 robots I used full auto on were destroyed outright their batteries popped out on the ground beside them
