dumb bug regarding trying to get the protocal ending

So I worked with protocal, but helped the doctor lady escape, and convinced Sims I was still on his side. Fast forward to the end of the game, im on my way to meet Sims to escape with him, his soldiers are shooting me - which is fine given what ive done so far.

I reach him and am about to speak to him to escape, but the soldiers with him open fire on me too, which turns him hostile at the last moment of the game. Everything before that with him has been fine, and I was about to get his ending.

So, maybe it needs a patch, if his soldiers are hostile than you fail the lead that is tied to escaping with him? or alternatively, his men dont shoot at you when youre about to reach him - if youre still supposed to be able to escape with him?

Take out the soldiers near him from real far away, then go talk to him.

tired that, sniped them from as far away as possible, but he got spooked and turned hostile when i came close

Try cranking the difficulty down so that the enemies perception is super bad, maybe you can sneak and talk to him that way.

Sadly the game is really really buggy when it comes to soldier's aggro. I swear those morons turn aggressive no matter what you do in the game. I ended up giving up and just murdering ALL of them. Felt really good to do it to. Plus gives you a cool ending scene with you standing on a mound of soldier corpses.
