Played an hour, inventory just turns me completely off :(
I'v played an hour so far and while the atmosphere is pretty nice (the voice acting I really love!) and the game world itself seems sweet I just have no desire to play due to the inventory.

For a supposed "survival" game and a world with scarce resources they sure are everywhere. Not even an hour into the game and my inventory is constantly full. I can't loot a dang thing. I'm sorry but it's just not fun constantly seeing everything on the ground, on a body or in a container being red. What's the point in exploring if I'm just going to find more red crap I can't even take?

Not sure if mods are possible with this game or not but unless one is released that greatly enhances your inventory capacity I'm just not interested.

Yeah, yeah I know carrying hundreds of different items isn't realistic and doesn't fit within the scope of a "survival" game. Well, I don't care I guess? Even in survival games you're able to carry way more than 20 of specific item. Even in hard core survival games I can have at least 9 different weapons as I can slot them to my 1-9 keys. This doesn't even touch on the fact that IF this is that way due to being a survival game it really doesn't even matter if you ever eat or drink.

I feel the entire system is there to simply annoy you. It's not adding anything to the game really. Just my opinion.

Yeah you say that until you realize they also do it with the ammo. Depending on the gun they limit you to like 20 Bullets. It's just dumb how much they limit you in this game.
Well I believe there’s a skill called Deep Pockets that allows to carry more ammo, and you will always easily get more,
If there is then it's late game and doesn't fix the issue because by the time you get it I'm guessing a lot of players will be frustrated and turned off.

Maybe you and others miss a lot or something, because I have been getting a lot of ammo that I have to leave on bodies, because usually I shoot less than what there is to get off the enemies I kill.

Yeah that's the problem. Your bullet stash is limited so you end up leaving a lot behind then when you run into a group of enemies you run out fast even when hitting all your shots. Because the game throws a ton of enemies at you and then when you need to heal and open your menu the game will respawn enemies in front of you. It has nothing to do with how good the players are if the game endlessly respawns enemies in an area and then gives you limited ammo to carry.
The inventory is taken from resident evil, pretty much, no one complains about it, do they? Most encounters can be avoided, at least in the outside areas, you don't need to hoard anything, unless it's quest related items.

This isn't Resident Evil where there are limited encounters and where the Inventory system is fine and no a lot of encounters cannot be avoided. It's only the outside areas where you can. Keep playing and you'll see what I mean.

It's unlocked along with the initial perks, and costs 7 points to acquire IIRC.

I've just cleared the druid castle. I only killed the high priestess, and that was a takedown. It's not quite as ridiculous as Deus Ex's vent systems for letting you stealth through places, but it's not far off.
Ammo wise you're not particularly limited. The shotgun tops out at 20, but since the highest capacity shotgun in the game can take two bullets that's still ten reloads. The bow is also capped at 20 but again, it's single shot and half the time you get to recover the ammo for it. The pistol has an ample supply of bullets available, as does the SMG; the rifle isn't too bad depending on which one you're using. Of course, you also have craftable bombs and grenades, shivs and similar throwing weapons, and a plethora of melee weapons to get stuck in with (and it's worth noting melee is often a better option against regular humans).
It's not Fallout where you store everything you pick up, you have to make choices. You have 4 weapon slots which is enough since ammo doesn't take up space in your inventory. You have a skill to store more crafting items. You can leave batteries in the exchanger. You can quickly craft what you need depending on a fight and the situation. Mostly, I keep grenades and medkits in my inventory, I don't need anything else.

I am not finding the inventory system enjoyable. I like having the mechanic of limited space and I don't want a huge or unlimited inventory, an unlimited inventory would take too much away from the style of the game. However, to me, the current amount of slots feels too restrictive and not fun.

Given the amount of things you need to pick up / manage, I think a backpack system that required you to craft or find and gives you an extra 8 or so slots would be about right.
think: could you carry it in real life? If not, you probably are carrying too much. This game tries in a lot of ways to be realistic (not all). When i see a real person, in the real world, carrying a rocket launcher, a grenade launcher, a machine gun, a submachine gun, a pistol, a club, a baseball bat, a cricket bat, and 1000 ammo for each, plus 500 cheese wheels, then we can debate which system make sense. This is an exploration game, stop being loot goblins.
Yeah I agree its getting to the point now where its just a bind.

If i carry sweet FA bar a gun, melee and a bandage ill run into a trader with no means to barter, If i carry loads expecting to sell stuff i'll inevitably find stuff I wanna pick up and cant lol

yea inventory was clunky and very limited... in games like this you wanna pick up all kinds of stuff. Also by the time I got to the the first vendor.. I had nothing to sell because my inventory was full of non-stackable food items.

Honestly I would have stuck around thinking mods could tweaks some stuff like this but this deruva crap people are talking about made me think mods would be blocked... so yea... ultimately went the refund route. I put it back on my wish list though to remind me to check it out a year from now or something.

kinda short-sighted having so many types of food stuffs, especially early in the game yet such a limited inventory.

That's fine but at the same time it's a huge bummer knowing it's a simple slot solution and nothing about actual size or weight. I'm exactly as loaded down carrying 15 loaves of bread and cloth bandages as I am carrying 15 topped off molotov cocktails and bats. At the very least let the non-2H stuff stack...there's simply no reason items like pills or bandages shouldn't stack up to at least 5 or 10.
issues occur when trying to barter for things.
you can literally unload your entire inventory and still not be able to afford a simple battery or skill book, and its not as if you can tell the shop keeper to take part payment and go an collect some more stuff to add to the tally.

youve either got to turn up with very expensive, and thus rare, stuff you really should be keeping or you cant buy anything useful

This. That's another huge pain. I was playing on normal too. Imagine trying to play on hard where the scales go even further to the traders favor. I bet it's possible to have many times you can't physically trade for anything at all on hard. This inventory is utterly ridiculous.
