story expansion ???
Was considering pre-order until I saw the store page mentioned a story expansion, which seems a bit off. It would have made sense had the DLC been announced weeks or months after the release of the main game...but a pre-release announcement? Pardon my paranoia but it looks like a red flag that implies the main game was never intended to be 'finished'.

The trailers make it look like quite a fun game, and with all the positive reviews applauding it could potentially be a good buy...

But should I?

It's some story DLC that will be added at a later point.

I know that. What I don't understand is, if the devs have already planned to release a story DLC afterwards, why they didn't just incorporate whatever they want to add later into the main game in the first place.

Of course, they might be forced to release the 'unfinished' main game because of time or budget reasons - I get it, no project goes perfectly as it is first planned. But they could have just not mentioned this DLC at all until later when the timing is right. I can see they want to encourage people to order the deluxe version; it is commercially understandable, but professionally questionable.

A DLC does what a DLC always does. It adds more things to do to the game...more content. It is not the ending. That is already part of the game. You don't need it if you don't want it. Every game ever made could have stuff added to it.Its finished without it or you can make it a little bigger....your choice.

Imagine in 2025 not knowing how game development works

The entire scope of the game is planned prior to development. They make the game, as they make the game, designers work on ideas, plans, scopes of things outside development to be made as DLC / expansions

Once game development has finished, they begin working on DLC. Sometimes game development is finished prior to release, and they also still work on the DLC alongside bug fixes of the original game

While I can understand your point, the way the story expansion does things might make it be more sense as a DLC:

It's likely smaller in scope than the main game's narrative, and the narrative might be separate from the main game's theme. Even if they're planned beforehand, it doesn't mean it's "cut content".
Its not an open world, its follows the format of Fable 1 gives you the illusion it is
i wasn't intending on completing the game already and i took it slow fr... 10hr on the save on playtime about 20hrs maybe? the melee feels heavy slow n clunky but can work well 1v1 groups are abit more to worry about, i think gathering at the acheivments * Complete under 5hrs* tells you how quick u can complete it with like 6 different endings. Feels like a MGS GZ. felt like a demo not sure how to feel lol. overall its a decent game but for the cost id pick up on sale maybe

Pray tell, great sage of modern game development - how am I, a mere ordinary gamer among millions, to know the devs of this game didn't deliberately leave out the story expansion contents? How am I to know this game isn't just another money-milking scheme?

Surely someone as wise as yourself can clearly tell whether a video game is worth buying because the devs deserve all the applause and monetary rewards for their honest hard work, no?
