Why was this compared to fallout?
The game is way more similar in feel to Arkane Studios games.

Are you saying you don't think it has anything in common? That you can't see why someone might say that? lol

cause it's set in post apocalyptica? kinda obvious, many other similarities, too

Nothing I can see in common beyond the loose idea of post-apocalypse, and even then it's a stretch (no apocalypse in game). If the only bar to be like fallout is `something happened in a nuclear plant`, than this game is way more similar to Stalker series. {shrug}

What apocalypse? It's more a `quarantine zone` like Chernobyl, than an apocalypse.

same difference, how is it closer to an arkane game than fallout? what arkane game is open world? redfall? are you saying that abomination is closer to this game than fallout?

Loving it so far. Some mechanics are a bit clunky but no doubt will be sorted. Slower paced than recent games with a need to work it out for yourself. Might put off the casual gamer but it is really fun so far. Fallout isn't a comparable game. Fallout was pretty much hand holding from the start. This definitely isn't.

It's not open world, it's zones.

I'm enjoying this game as well.

I just can't find any similarities in the game-play to Fallout (or any other Bethesda title). Those games are more like RPGs, this game almost plays a bit like Dishonoured or even Bio-shock (1 / 2).

so all the reviews saying it's open world are wrong?

I'm playing right now. It is zones connected by loading. First zone Slatten Dale, then Skethermoor.

They are nice zones, and you are free to explore as you please, but it's not a seamless connected area like Stalker 2.

I also don't get any Farcry feelings from it...

I could maybe see comparisons to Metro Exodus with this game (smaller zones, but similar feel to exploration)

I dunno, I kinda feel like a fallout game in a very loose way. It feels good though, imo. I think the zones are a tad too small(I've only been to a few)but overall I like it.

The look, however, the appearance of things, especially lights, furnishings and so on is more like Fallout than Stalker, even though the gameplay is reminiscent of the latter. Many of the plants, fungi, mosses and so on don't resemble either though, they have a Crysis feel to them.

I like it too,

but Fallout to me also includes some sim elements, attribute and skill systems, unlimited traverse (can go pretty much anywhere on map), and some sandbox aspects.

For kills in Atom Fall, you collect tokens, and then spend them on unlocking a "skill" when you have enough tokens collected. There is no levelling.

Given the criteria of `more-like`, yes, I agree. I just think comparing something to Fallout lends to comparing the game-play as well.

Retrofuturist aesthetic with vague cold war nuclear fearmongering played from a first person perspective with an emphasis on exploration and looting. Who would compare such a thing to Fallout
