This game really needs a backpack mod and better controls.
Inventory micro management is a really rubbish way of making games more "challenging" - not necessarily difficult, but it forces the player to either go without something they might need or to spend time backtracking to a location to grab the thing and potentially expanding other scarce resources to get it. Overall, it just wastes your time as a player and doesn't make the game more enjoyable. Though I'm sure some guy here will post to be contrarian - "but I like taking more time to take down enemies slowly using only a toothpick and shoes string rather than having a grenade on hand to take out the whole group in one go". Yeah well, don't use the grenade or don't pick it up, but the rest of us shouldn't suffer because of your masochist fetish and love of wasting time doing things unnecessarily painfully slowly.

That aside - THE BIGGER ISSUE - I have with the game currently is that it's another game that could really benefit from a selection wheel. You can only map 4 things to quick slots in the game but due to the limited resources you might want to utilize a lot more items on hand during combat, especially on the higher difficulty. Your only recourse is of course spending more time taking enemies out stealthily but some things are quite spongy and can't be killed through stealth. Now if we could get a selection wheel for throwable items and weapons that'd have been nice, but no - for some reason game devs keep coming out with dated control layouts like we're back in 2001.

Definitely some interesting choices regarding the inventory. But that's how they want it. Sure they have some reasons. From what I've seen they at least need to add some quick heal button that uses the bandages.

It's the first time these devs has made a game like this so I'd expect some weird choices
The trading system makes the inventory even worse. You can't just sell items for the currency, you need to keep them in the inventory if you want to trade them for something, effectively giving you less space for actual useful items.

Yeah, good catch, that's another thing that I thought was strange. No button to use bandages or medkits and you can't map them to the item selection either.

I guess the easy answer to why they did all this was for difficulty sake. But I hope that's not the case. That's just lame. If you had some kind of dodge or something to stop getting hit them maybe. But you're going to get damage and not being able to do something about that easily just sucks. Also the game doesn't pause when opening the inventory.
I don't really want to call out the devs but some of these decisions just seem very poor. Not going to stop me from playing though so maybe I'm the sucker in the end haha
