Game Crashing to Desktop

Hello,

Pre-purchased this from GreenManGaming. Atomfall Deluxe edition.

Just downloaded the game, launched it. Game uses a launcher for graphics and settings.

I thought no problem, with a 14900k, RTX 4090 and 64GB of ram, I set the game to Fullscreen and everything to Ultra.

Launched the game, it brings me to a fullscreen black window, then proceeds to send me back to my Desktop and steam goes from displaying the STOP button, to Play, which means the game closed itself.

Any logs or errors I can provide to help fix?

Ok, this is odd.

Launching the game from the Settings launcher to run the game in fullscreen caused the game to crash multiple times.

However, launching the game from the launcher, in windowed mode caused the game the launch properly.

Pressing ALT+Enter forced it from windowed mode to Fullscreen mode and then the game would still work and now WILL launch into Fullscreen mode when I chose that option from the launcher.

Interesting. I have the same issue, but launching it in windowed mode didn't fix it and I still had a CTD right after the Rebellion logo when I'm supposed to choose the UI scale

I too have CTD after the rebellion logo when needing to choose ui scale, can't play right now..

Same here - raised it with Rebellion - tried a dozen or so different combinations of windowed/fullscreen/settings/resolution - same result every time. Steam verified the files ok, cleared the cache, uninstalled, reinstalled - same problem.

I found the issue for me, it was my software mixer application, Steelseries Sonar and Elgato Wavelink, are they installed, i get CTD to desktop when the game tries to play music though the virtual sound outputs from those app.. Uninstalling those, fixed the issue for me..

I didn't have both installed, i started with only having steelseries sonar installed and uninstalled that and verified it worked, then i tried elgato Wavelink and that had the same issues, and i had to uninstall it again, to make the game work again..

I hope this helps someone out there.

This is the same issue I have with game on Xbop App as well just sent back to desktop everytime I launch

A temporary workaround has been found. In the launcher on the audio tab, set reverb to "off" - the game will now launch and run, but be aware it will crash when choosing to exit. Turning on the reverb while in game will immediately crash the game. Rebellion have been made aware so hopefully a fix coming soon. This seems to be a PC only issue.

So i found that my Corsair HS80 Max when connected to pc with bluetooth crashes the game on launch every time, if i connect via the dongle no crashes at all, such a strange issue but yet another one with Corsair hardware being a factor

Thanks for coming in to post this. I also have the issue with CTD at the UI scale selection screen and nothing I did would let me get past this point. I can now verify that turning off reverb in the launcher lets me run the game, with a crash on exit exactly as reported above.

A janky fix, but better than nothing until they patch out the kinks!

I get a consistent crash when entering some unknown area through the sewers. Game runs fine otherwise, but if i try to go through this door itll crash every time.

Same. I am about 15 hours in and loving this game but I got to a point where I try to leave the area I'm in "castle ruins" and my game crashes immediately upon exiting through either exit. I'm stuck in here and I my last manual save was 13 hours ago. All my autosaves are inside these ruins. Completely unplayable now.

Same bug while trying to leave vehicle storage bunker. Funny enough also about 15hrs in.
The game autosaves while you exit, and for some reason that autosave is inside the location when you load. I noticed that they are graphical issues on those loads, like doors being the wrong size/textures around them being see-thru. I had a manual save from before in the bunker and it worked fine, and doors looked normal.

My my silly theory so far is that the game crashes because it tries to save a location already partially removed from memory.

Problems occur frequently with games played on the Xbox App....Playing the game from your Steam library will always work better...I don't even bother with the Xbox app anymore

Game works when it wants to.

I've played the game normally and it will play fine when it wants to.

Right now, nothing I do to make it work does anything.

• I thought about someone's Windows Mixer problem. I have no 3rd party mixers but thought maybe Windows 11's mixer could be causing a problem, so I set the audio device in the Rebelion Launcher before launching the game.

Now I'm getting straight crashing to desktop, not even getting to the Rebelion screen.

I've enjoyed the game, but getting really tired of all the crashing and only being able to play when the game allows me to, not when I want to.
