First of all, is it playable with the XBOX controller? I have both of them, the classic one and the new XBOX One.
And the other thing is, While I know it isn't easy to get into a fighter game, is the tutorial good enough that with time you could catch everything this game has?

tutorial is one of the best
game also has mission mode for each character to learn some combos

as for the controller, i have no idea, but with the steam parameters for controllers, i assume you should be able to config and make them work

Yes you can play with a Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller . I play with an Arcade stick for Xbos 360 , and sometimes my friend plays with an xbox one controller so

Tutorial for each character is so good one of the best i seen in a fighting game and yes is playable with the XB1 but i recommend to use a better dpad controller like the PS4 or similar, because the dpad on the XB1 is not really good and has a lot of input lag specially on wireless, i usually use my fightsick but in this game im using keyboard and it works really well.

Play with whatever control you're comfortable. I have seen players in tournaments playing with Ps4 controllers, Snes controller even a wheel. It's just mater to get used to.

The short answer is no if you want to know *everything*, but it will teach you enough to have fun. Mission mode is pretty well built, but some things are only gonna be learnable through experience or from other players.
