This is a $40 dollar update, there is no if and or buts about it. I haven't even bought it yet because it's ridiculous that owners of the previous version didn't even get so much as a discount on the game, we're just expected to buy it full price and be happy we even got it.
If this is going to be a continued practice it should be discouraged.
It is only if you don't own Unist on Ps4 and possibly PC. But I think it is, indeed, a paid upgrade for the Ps3 and Vita versions of the game. And Switch never had Uni before, so it makes sense there.
Yep you're right UNIclr is a free update for the PS4 with of course optional DLC of additional colors, the new character Londrekia and round call for Londrekia. I have it on PS4 and they announced that it would be a free update for existing owners of UNIst on PS4 months ago so I don't know why Faunts is trying to misinform people. The PS3 and Vita versions however did not get the UNIclr update at all so it isn't a $40 upgrade since it just doesn't exist (and most likely never will on those platforms as they are kind of dead),
I'm not misinforming anybody, EXE: Late[st] is a paid $40 dollar update from EXE: Late. You're only getting four new fighters and some minor balance changes, and I'm not counting art because that's just not content.
At best this should have been $9.99 or $14.99, not $40. I imagine they will sell the next version on PC again just for the addition of Londrekia.
Apologies since the discussion was on UNIclr I thought you were talking UNIclr and not UNIst. I will say I disagree that they should have charged $10 or $15 for an upgrade from UNIel to UNIst, even if it was only an update with new characters that would price each character at $2.50 to $3.75 which is extremely cheap and that's not all UNIst added, it also added a new system mechanic (CCVO), entire roster balancing which honestly some of the changes are pretty big, system mechanic changes, a tutorial mode, a mission mode and a story mode.
Now I will say forcing people to buy a new game entirely instead of being able to just upgrade from UNIel to UNIst at a cheaper price was a mistake, but I think it should have been around a $25 price tag and still have a $40 complete version for people that didn't own UNIel of course.
Also *if* they did sell UNIclr as a separate game instead of just updating UNIst I'm sure there would be a lot of angry people (I would be one of them), but I can't imagine them doing that considering there are untitled DLC depots that were added to the SteamDB under UNIst a few weeks ago, that would suggest they are planning the same thing that they did for PS4 and just updating the game and selling the DLC for the characters and colors. If by some chance they did make that stupid decision then I certainly would not support them.
None taken man.
I'm cautiously skeptical due to getting burned on previous occasions. Arcsys has a long history of releasing different versions of a game instead of having a definitive one, which only makes it frustrating for people who bought the previous iterations.
I'll take your word for it and hope they won't pull what I expect them to, but my opinion is that they should just make a sequel title at this point. Tired of this kind of business practice.
Amen.
CLR will happen eventually on PC...<.<
Yeah it was without a doubt a terrible business practice which while I can't say for certain but I can however speculate it was the main reason each BB revision had a smaller and smaller player base (although drastic overhauls to characters forcing players to learn new combo routes entirely probably didn't help too).
ASW luckily hasn't done this since BBCP to BBCF. BBTAG and DBFZ both receive free balance patches with paid DLC characters and prior to that they had GGXrdRev to Rev2 which was just a paid upgrade instead of full title release so hopefully they've learned their lesson. UNI however is developed by French Bread and just published by ASW (for JPN and PC), I think the only development ASW did on UNI was the net-code. French Bread is also a pretty small development team which is why their updates are not huge for how long they take to come out.
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend....
EXE: Late[St] is hardly a 40 dollar update and I doubt you've played Late off of that statement. UNIST brings 4 chars, balancing for the cast, new mechanics (CVO as an example), the entire visual novel storymode, the entire tutorial, more customisation options including menu chars and more. UNIST is imo worth the pricetag, it's not just an "upgrade" to Late but instead it's the first actual entry in a series thats basically just been arcade ports. I would not have liked UNIST half the amount I do now if my first game was Late and not Late[st].
I paid for UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late at full price, I have played it for 32 hours, beat all of the character arcades, and unlocked all the character colors and artwork the game had to offer.
Latest is an update to Late as the only differences are character additions, balance changes, and whatever slide show they cobbled together to call a story mode. It's not a sequel to the first Under Night game, nor does it have the content to justify a $40 dollar price tag. Once again I must point out that they never even provided a discount to the previous iteration's owners, and when the game does go on sale it barely even scratches the high price.
I'm not interested in listening to your excuses and shilling so bark up somebody else's tree.
Ha! Capcom took 4 years for them to (allegedly) fix the net-code for their popular title and only because a modder that worked on it for two days did it for them which caused issues with the PS4 base.
While I agree with most of what you said, I wouldn't call BBTAG an abomination, I just don't care for tag fighters in general. ASW in general has been going downhill for awhile for me. I didn't care for GGXrd due to making most combos look dull compared to AC+R, and of course slow-mo YRC in neutral (hell I'm fine with it on hit and block, but neutral was too much). Then there was BBCF, while I enjoyed it, BBCP1 and CPEX were the height of BB for me personally and then there's GranBlue which I've played, I also won't call it a bad game per se, just a lot of game-play designs I personally find weird.
I agree UNI is the last bastion for a still supported anime fighting game, while I don't love the game as much as BB back in the CP days, it's still a really well designed game that I enjoy in a time where a lot of fighting games as of late have been a disappointment for me.
